Have you seen anyone transfered tonight who would have been suitable?

Aye, but none of em like Sheffield.

We will se who's reight at the end of the season. I'm tellin yer know forget Promotion, if the Blades are lucky we might scrape into the playoffs but i wouldn't count on it .

Cardiff average at best.

whats the signing on fee of your gert?
shes looking more promising by the minute :D

Our Gert...............
Goodnight Foxy Blades Way my arse !

So the answer is, you can't think of one.

All these managers in need of a midfielder, but none of them sign one eh?

Must have been summat good on telly tonight or maybe all their mobile phones ran out?

Or could it just be, its not quite as easy as it sounds? ;)

I see Shackell as gone from Norwich to Wolves, anyone think he would'nt have improved our side ?????? Or Thompson to Burnley ? Who's that cracking midfielder Donny paid about £300k for a few weeks back ??? The players are out there if you really want them then again ..............tha reight Beighton NO AMBITION

Shackell would've chose Wolves over us, because he's guaranteed first team football. We've got better here.

Thompson is no better than Henderson.

And I have no idea about the 300k midfielder for Donny!

I really like this post.

I'd take the play off now, although like most fans I always want us to do better.

If Cardiff are average it suggests to me that most of the teams in the division are???

Surely as a "football" fan this is what we really want......to see fairly even football teams trying to play against each other?

Or is it now all about winning?????

I you want to win every week look elsewhere i'd suggest.

:)

I think the majority of our targets etc will have been snapped up by teams like Stoke this year.

It's interesting to see how Stoke are really going for it in the transfer market; in my opinion the signings they have made are vastly better then the ones we made when we were promoted. If they get Ledley and Soares in addition to Olifinyana and Lawrence then they basically have every midfielder that i was hoping we would be in for (other then Ben Watson).

If there ever was a chance to attract a quality midfielder then it was when we were promoted; the more i think about how we went about our business in terms of transfers during our premiership campaign the more furstrated i get.

Perhaps i'm just sufferring from my annual case of the deadline day blues.

We were in for at least one of the players you mention there. Think its easier to splash the cash in some ways.... higher prize money + parachute payments. Though that should also in theory drive the prices up.

Guess we'll see if they've done the right thing over the next couple of years.

Another year on and they may want the opportunity i'm afraid.

I'm sure all the promoted clubs wanted the same players last time and this.

Don't dwell on it.....it will send you mad!

:o:o:o

Still a sellin club ?

Well are we or aren't we ?
Somebody wi a calculator tot it up.......how much has been spent ? how much has been cashed in ?

In order to be accurate, you'd also have to include wages. Do you have that accurate information to hand?

Good book-keeping or a selling club?!

A selling club would have been touting Beattie for the last one and a half seasons.

If you've been supporting the Blades as long as you say, there is absolutely no comparison from the Blades of the past.

This is why I might come across negative on transfer deadline day, the past haunts me.

We have sold Armstrong though and let Stead out on loan!

It does seem the same to some as Jones, Currie, Deane and Fjortoft all in one though!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

True, and as silverfox quite rightly states there is no gaurentee that the players would have made the move when we were in Stoke's position.

It just grates to see them reaping the benefits of circumastance when it so rarely happens to us.

Not to mention the fact that Ledley being worth more then 2 million more then Jags is just farcical.

I'm just such a happy bunny tonight :)

Forgetting the loans and the frees

Out
Hulse 1.75 mil ish
Armstrong - Rise to 800k
Shelton - 1 mi
=3.55 million

In
Hendo - 2 mil
Cotts - 1.5ish
=3.5 million

Yer reyt, thas been ripped off by 50 grand, our terry will get some reyt pies wi that

We are a very prudent club; in recent years we have never thrown money at transfers without balancing the books first.

It can be furstrating in the short term but it is for the greater good as the leagues below the premiership are littered with former top flight clubs with crippling debt as a result of over spending while the sun was shining.

There is no need for these sensible posts.

However frustrating the real world is you should complain and go forthwith with strong views to upset the masses!

;););)

Prudent......? thats Gordon Brown and look what a mess the country is in ?

Reckless for me. ;)

The mess the country is in??

Most people I know are better off than ever in my lifetime! Although i've only been around a short time :)

Reckless? if meaning United I'd prefer what we have to where Leeds and Wednesday who bought big are.

:)

I'd take a play off spot as well, Saturday proved we will struggle to break teams down with the present incumbents in midfield

If Cardiff are average it suggests to me that most of the teams in the division are???
You're absolutely right most teams in this division ARE average, is it too much to ask that we are a little better than average ?

Surely as a "football" fan this is what we really want......to see fairly even football teams trying to play against each other?
I'm a football fan second but a Sheffield United fan first what comes first with you ?

Or is it now all about winning?????
What is the point of sport any sport be it football, athletics or tiddly winks surely it is trying to win all this crap about competing is just an excuse for losers

I you want to win every week look elsewhere i'd suggest.
I would suggest every fan wants their team to win every game but it will never happen not even if you support Man U, what a stupid statement.

The day our club start spending money on Quality players for the first team and stop spending money on foreign clubs is the day i will start believeing what Blackwell says.

I Believe Blackwell sounds just like warnock at the moment he has said all summer that we need to strengthen in the midfield yet has not done anything about it.

He has tried to insult the fans intelligence by claiming he is after quality not quantity yet he goes and brings Halford Henderson & spring they are not what i call Quality players if Blackwell thinks we are going to be up there come the end of the Season with the midfield we have got then he is obviously living in cloud cukoo land we will be lucky to get in the play-offs.

no matter what happens i will still follow united as passionately as ever but it does not mean i am happy with the club because i am far from it especially with the state of our team.
