I don't want to be a harbinger of doom but I felt it after Bristol City's late equaliser on Tuesday. Burnley are looking the business. We have to go to Turf Moor never a happy hunting ground for us. The derby takes on even greater significance now and the Pigs know it. Getting 1979 pre Boxing Day vibes about it. Tomorrow and Coventry at the Lane will define the season I feel.

I've had the same feeling.
If we get 4 points out of Wednesday & Coventry then I'll fancy us.

If we get less than that, then I think we're going to Turf Moor needing a win and I don't see us managing that.

You're right, that Bristol equaliser felt a huge wasted opportunity.

Tuesday night at full time at Burnley - they were 4 pts adrift and had lost a key defender for 3 games through suspension. What with Bristol City’s injury time equaliser and then the EFL reversing the red card - and now the easy win today……it must feel like a massive momentum change for them since Tuesday at 9.45pm!

If we beat Wednesday then everybody will forget the Bristol City game. 7 points in a week is a great return.

If we don't then that goal will haunt us throughout the international break and will feel very significant.

This.

Get the job done tomorrow and we're flying again.

Lose or draw and it starts to look very ominous.

I think we will win tomorrow

But I think Burley will hammer us unfortunately. Then it just Leeds predictable fuck ups Vs Wilder going ultra defensive trying to defend a 1-0 lead, for second place.

Wilder and the players will have to show what they're made of now after throwing away that huge opportunity to go 4 points clear of Burnley on Tuesday.
The pressure is on us now and it's completely self-inflicted.

Surely there will come a time when we run out of towels to throw in as a fanbase? Every hiccup a disaster, every defeat the end of the line.

Must be disheartening for staff and players, who have built a promotion challenge against the backdrop of takeover uncertainty, multiple injury crises and loss of key players through injury at the start of season.

It's ebbed and flowed for a while now and every indication is that this are going to the wire.

Sadly whatever we do, I think it's the fucking -2 deduction that will do for us eventually anyway. Princey's parting gift to us.

It's a reflection of today's society
Weak as piss mentality , no resilience
Luckily for us the players and manager have plenty

One of the consistencies of this team is bouncing back quickly from a difficult result. I wish the fanbase shared the same attributes, but we seem to want to constantly talk ourselves down.

It’s a bit strange really.

It's appearntly 'throwing in the towel' to mention that Burnley are obviously the in-form team at the moment 😆

They've been the most consistent team all season defensively and now they've found their scoring boots, a blind man could see that they're probably the favourites, due to ourselves and Leeds being inconsistent in recent weeks.

It's not throwing in the towel or giving up, to acknowledge a promotion rival are stepping it up. It's naive and arrogant to turn a blind eye to it however

In the last six games they’ve got one more point than us. All the top three are evenly matched and will ebb and flow - our principal attribute seems to be bouncing back from a difficult result.

I just hope the fanbase don’t talk themselves out of helping the team get over the line.

It's a fucking miracle we are where we are given the huge turnaround in squad and the fitness issues around it

You would think that would be something to be proud of and get behind it but it Shames to say it as you used to think of Blades fans as hardcore but these days we are as entitled as they come

Has someone found anything to allay my pessimism as yet? If so, please share.

I can't help but feel that points lost v Leeds, points dropped v Bristol City, Leeds claiming a draw today, Burnley winning today, and the Pigs getting a win last time out... that momentum has taken a fair old whack. That, and we're doing superb, but carrying a lot of knocks (and limited squad depth) amidst an ongoing squad rebuild.

Come one, someone gimme sumat. Up the chuffing Bleds. ❤️⚔️

Fair comment but 94% of their players, and the manager don't really feel it's more than a football match. Maybe a little needle from Sausage, but if AND when it starts to appear the Blades are in the ascendancy again lol the 60,000 will make their own players nervous.

I'm looking forward to 90 minutes of sheer hell. When I say looking forward, it's in the future so it means just that. Hate these matches

Prime bedwetter time this. None of us have any idea of the psychology and preparedness of united, the pigs, Leeds or Burnley. The bedwetting is your own insecurity and catastrophizing.

I remain hopeful, I know we have the ability, I hope the players know that too.

It is a big significant game Wilder also knows as well as his players.Be confident we have the better team as the table shows just play our game and don't caught up in the emotion just focus we will be alright. We need 3 points to get back ahead of Burnley and be tied with leeds
