Did Adkins get rid of Murphy?
He does go on to contradict himself in saying something about "further down the line", but the point is if he had any inclination as to what might happen in the future i.e McCabe selling Murphy, he shouldn't have led fans to believe we weren't going to sell our best player, again, by uttering the former part and everything afterwards.

Your words were

Promising, but he said we wouldn't sell Murphy.

He never said that. ( apart from in your mind when you re-watched the epic fail clip you posted as 'evidence')

Quite the reverse in fact..and clearly, Adkins didn't go to the board and say "please sell Murphy so I can buy Hammond" or summat did he?

He said, " I ain't getting rid of Murphy"
So quite clearly, Adkns wanted him here this season and he didn't sell Murphy did he?

Why is identifying targets now for the Summer re-build worrying?

It's neither worrying, nor news – he's regularly said that we're developing plans 'not just for this transfer window, but the next transfer window, and the one after that'. Why wouldn't we have plans based around players we view should become available at a particular point?

What evidence have you seen this season that makes you have, let alone have confidence in this view?

Why would I narrow it down to just this season? That would be stupid.

As I've stated several times, he's worked under severe restrictions this season.

He clearly has an eye for a goal scorer. When we've been good this season we've been very good, admittedly this has been on very few occasions.

Woolford aside, it's easy to slag off signings with the benefit of hindsight. But no managers gets all signings spot on every time.

You've continuously ignored the fact he's been able to sign so little. The likes of Edgar could work well surrounded by better players.

I've seen enough throughout his career to think that given the chance he could build a promotion winning side given the chance.

I think you're going to have to get used to the fact that he'll be here next season and stop dragging up off the cuff comments from pre season Q and A sessions as reasons to get your knickers in a twist.

Brilliant.

Indeed.

You sat and watched a video ( presumably?), then posted it as 'evidence' knowing you'd mis-quoted it?

Then you try and fumble some kind of flounce about how Adkins 'contradicts himself' later in the same video anyhow as if that has any relevance!??

That is quite 'brilliant'.

Ben Whiteman added to the first team squad - the latest youngster to find a route in to the first team? Encouraging.

(P.S. Won't go into what else Adkins said. Will leave that to towd William with his top-class summarisations - to follow soon hopefully.)

I'm not American so not bothered about doing 'the math'.

I think he's been severely restricted in the type and cost of player he's been allowed to go for, and the fact he's been able to sign 1/2 on a permanent basis shows he's worked under restrictions.

I think you'll need to get used to the fact that he'll be here next season. The board seem to acknowledge that we need to move away from the hiring and firing policy of the past, and also that listening to the knee jerk armchair moaners isn't the way to run the club.

I think his success rate on players will be vastly improved when he's allowed to shape our squad next season, if he's given adequate chance to do so.

Well done on pulling up the annoying use of 'do the math' I hate it when people use these Americanisms. It's like when people say they are 'pissed' when they mean 'pissed off'.

Anyways I'm looking forward to the awesome team roster for tomorrow's cool soccer game. Go figure!

I can't be bothered to watch the video, does it include Adkins saying he won't sell Murphy?

Do the math. I even forgot to mention Sammon, Jesus. 4/5 - 80% poor players i.e not good enough. How many players are we planning to sign in the summer? I'll let you do the rest.

4/5 poor players in your opinion. I think Edgar’s decent and if we had 2 CBs of his calibre next season, that would be OK. Hammond’s not great but brings something to the team we lacked (I fear we might miss him tomorrow). Sharp has been very good. Sammon started OK but faded very badly. Woolford has generally been poor. It’s all subjective but let’s say he gets rid of say 13 players in the summer (Howard, Harris, McEveley, Collins, McFadzean, Flynn, JCR, Baxter, Cuvelier, Wallace, McNulty, Scougall Sammon). Say he makes Edgare and Hammond permanent. We’d probably be looking for another 8-10 players in. If from batch we land 2 very good, 2 decent, 2 mediocre and 4 very poor (his ratio so far if we pin Sammon on him) but all of whom want to be here playing for Adkins and complimenting remaining players like Long, Brayford, Basham, Sharp, Adams, Reed, DCL, Coutts etc. then we will be in a better position than we are now. It depends on the level of backing he receives and how ruthless he’s prepared to be with the out of contract players. Particularly those in and around the team at the moment (Collins, McEveley, Flynn etc.)

You throw the names Sammon and Woolford around all the time to point out how bad he is but let’s not lose sight of the fact that he’s also singed Martyn Paterson, Gary Hooper, Rob Jones, Grant McCann, Artur Boruc, Jos Hooiveld, Guly do Prado, Nathaniel Clyne, Jay Rodriguez, Steven Davis, Richard Chaplow, Billy Sharp, Oliver Norwood, Jamie Mackie, Nathan Ake, Nathaniel Chalobah etc.

I’m OK with that.

I've read 'get go' three fucking times on here this week. Disgraceful.

The only player he's paid a fee for has done very well. He will have more room for manoeuvre because we won't have the huge bloated squad. That do for a start?

Adkns states 'I ain't getting rid of Jamie Murphy, I want Jamie back, the board are well aware, everyone's well aware I rate Jamie Murphy, if we want to go up the last thing you do is go and do that"

Then there's the bit where he states 'obviously, that's not to say that further down the line etc etc"

Obviously the board ignored this and sold him anyway because 'they couldn't stop him leaving'

The point being of course that it was obviously out of Adkins hands whether the board sold Murphy or not...he could only say what he would do.

Ah selective quoting because he thinks it backs up his point.

Classic Barney.

Are you saying "I aint getting rid of Murphy" isn't saying he won't sell Murphy? Because I'm 100% sure the two are the very same thing, said with "aint" for "won't" and "rid" for "sell".

Dunno why you're arguing about Murphy sale - Phipps or Baki said there was no chance he's going and he went, funnily enough after season ticket sales!

I think most sensible and non agenda driven people realise who decided to sell Murphy.

You'd have to be pretty moronic to use his sale as a reason to slag Adkins off.

I'm
Not slagging Adkins off.

End of day we could have Shankly, Ferguson or Pep in charge but with Mcabe and co running show they would do nothing

Lol.

He states that he wants Murphy to stay and wouldn't sell him.
He then states, as with Raheem Sterling, that sometimes it's out of a manager's hands ( big clue there)

I'm sure Adkins has been in the game long enough and is not stupid enough ( take note) to say which players will and won't be sold at any club...

He's saying 'I' not 'we' Barney
Can you not see the difference?
Which manager would want to sell their best player?

Adkns didn't sell Murphy.
Bottom line.
