Wouldnt be a bad signing, midfield definitely needs beefing up. Need at least 3 coming in

RCM - besic & slater
CM - ??? & norwood
LCM - fleck & osborn
Number 10 - ??? & freeman

One of those players who got exponentially better the less he played...

Bit like JOC this season...
I don’t get it with Besic, seems to have become a world beater. Brought in last minute as an extra body in midfield and never looked anything other than that. Put a shift in and did alright but isn’t an improvement on what we already have.

I agree Besic looked "no better than what we have" when Fleck & Norwood were at the top of their respective games last season. This season however they have been nowhere near that standard. Fed up watching our midfield running in treacle as they try and catch the opposition - Besic would at least get a tackle in.
As a bonus, Besic is younger than both Fleck & Norwood.

Besic is bang average, what’s the fuss. Basically a Michael Doyle with more mobility.

With our limited budget and our inability to create and unlock a defence, I’d be very disappointed if we sign a midfielder who is solely defensive.

Didn’t Besic only start 2 league games for us? I’m not sure where such strong support for him has come from

Think he came on as sub a fair few times though and seemed to make a difference.

For me at first was not very good but then again might have been moment of adjustment. Just as it felt he was gathering momentum and coming good he went sadly.
He was to me a bit like Didzy and could have become a cult favourite as to me he was a tryer.

How did he make a difference? In his 7 sub appearances, most of which were only a few minutes, the score line changed favourably our way zero times whilst he was on the pitch

I’m sure he ran about a lot and tackled a bit but did he do much of any substance?

Based on the 37 league games this season, how can anyone say Besic isnt any better than we have got, when ee have had Lundstram putting in minimum effort. In addition he contributed more in his loan spell than Ampadu who probably cost us more money per week.

No, I suppose you don’t have to but it goes against the idea of a discussion forum. You’ve expressed an opinion and I’ve asked for you to explain what you mean.

Posting a link to a goal he scored in the FA Cup doesn’t really add much value. As I said, he made very little difference to our achievements during the season he was with us, this is backed up by the fact that we gained zero extra points whilst he was on the pitch and he played very few minutes.

He set up.flecks equaliser v arsenal

Which game do you mean? I’ve just rewatched the highlights and it looks like Robinson crosses it and Sharp flicks it on to Fleck.

I will agree though that I was incorrect earlier, that was the only game where Besic being on the pitch saw a positive effect on the amount of points we gained.

If Besic had stayed, maybe he would have suffered the drop off too. So comparing them to now is tricky.

The Millwall game I think was his last first team appearance (Jan 2020). He’s barely played any football in the last two years and he’s 29 in September. Didn’t do much with us when he was here. I agree, I’m not seeing it.

When I watch our matches it doesn’t scream we need more solid, defensive, workmanlike midfielders.

Can’t argue with that. He wouldn’t have offered much in terms of attacking threat but would have at least prevented a few goals Lundstram was found awol for if nothing else.
