There are some positives to not making them (this season).
1) Would we have stood any chance? It's a very strong line up especially with Fulham in the mix.
2) Teams that fail in the playoffs generally don't do as well the next season - the psychology of loosing.
3) It motivates the team and manager to try that little bit harder.
4) It highlights to the manager what needs to be improved.
5) It shows the board that to achieve the premier league target a certain budget is required.
6) The fans expectations are still realistic (see our neighbours at the start of this season).
