I personally think Wilder is getting everything he wants. He isn't afterstar names and I think for once the board are giving the manager exactly the support he needs. Perhaps if we aren't getting the players in it is because the manager doesn't think it represents value.
agree .. i think CW is still evaluating what he's got

We've spent nearly £3M and have started quite well.

Cardiff have spent £5M and are the league leaders, having beat big spending Wolves today.

Villa have £22M on the bench today and get their first win by starting 2 teenagers.

Pigs have spent a fortune and already blown their budget, first win today.

We all want to see quality players coming in but there is clearly more than one way to skin a cat.

Chill yer beans kid.
Hang on, I'm sure you were voicing an ounce of displeasure at our lack of spending the other day

Absolutely I was and will still be very concerned if we don't invest more in the team, but I also recognise that simply spending more money doesn't guarantee anything, hence the references to Villa, Wolves and our neighbours. It's about smart spending but also not deluding ourselves that we can get everything we want on the cheap.
If Cardiff can put together a team like that spending only £5M then I am reassured that we can be competitive in the long run. The issue we might face however [which the likes of Cardiff probably don't] is our wage structure. Wilder will get this right without spending a fortune but he does need help and might have to flex on some of his principles.

Im far from stirring , this is the most excited ive been about the blades and a blades team (im 20) just feel that we could be on to something amazinng if Mccabe spent what should be spent. Not asking for wendy type money thrown at it , just a few young hungry players for 1/2 million. Wilder has done wonders with this squad lets see what he can do with a bit off money in the market. The money is there

You lickle tinker. We currently have a few million bids still in place.
We've hardly spent any of the budget so far BUT I can gaurantee you it will all be spent during the year. Big signings have yet to arrive, blame the stupid timing of the transfer window.

Also as I'm explained before the board have a sense of caution regards immediate signings because Wilder can't be 100% confident where the squad strengths and weaknesses lie at Championship level, so the plan is that a contingency fund is being held back to spend in the January transfer window when we'll ALL have learnt and know much more about our squad.

For example why would we pay £1 million on Leonard when he's never played at Champiomship level and would be a risk, also his value is decreasing all the time, so we're simply being patient.

Cardiff haven't built a squad for 5 mill they've been spending around that every season , we've spent nothing , zero zilch . We've made money so far.
Yeah I'm sure wilder can work on a low budget , but he shouldn't the money is their to spend 2/3 mill on a few young hungry players .

We've spent £2.8M, but I agree that we need to up this. As you say Cardiff's approach is hugely encouraging.

I'm not convinced with spent that much at all. Cardiff will be spending much more on wages , but the idea is their

Take Zahore out and put him in our team and we'd be top 2 as well.

We've received 6/7 mill and spent 2 mill and we've gone up a division , where's the money and ambition ?

wilder also confirmed we bid for coady, lenighan and leonard, so clearly he is being backed , oh and have you ever heard of a thing called ffp??? 6 seasons in league one affects our ffp, if the board invest they have to prove we can run at a profit for the 3 years after, wilder is being backed, if he wasn't from everything we know about the man he would walk

Spot on. Wilder knows what he's doing in regards to transfer targets!. I've not seen or heard that Leonard is still getting man of the match every week?. His head might have been turned by our interest!!!. I'm not sure that he's now worth the money we originally bid?. I M O. Utb

The bid for coady is pointless so that doesn't count It does count - it was tabled therefore there was INTENT on spending £2.5m, lenighan fair enough again, £1.5m tabled. We should have gone for Watkins you could say that about numerous players who went Brentford fast young hungry. we should be spending 3/4/5 million I just love fans who like to spend other peoples money - bet they have a money tree without the money from sales.
Look were we are now I'd say we're a decent mid table champ team probably true, we'll know more after 10 games , if wilder had money he'd do wonders Pure speculation - he might only be good at lower league or he might just be the best since sliced bread - we'll only know in 2-3 years IF (and it's a big IF) our fans have patience.

Transfer rumours are always fun for the fans but not many clubs actually release how close their bid is compared to the selling clubs evaluation of the player.
Any club can announce they have made a bid for this player or that player we only know it was a true bid if the player is signed.
We will all know by the end of September whether players are signed or the funds are in the bank for another window.

Apologies for pointing out we've spent nothing and are showing no ambition.

It's not a money tree though is it we've just got 6/7 million from walker and maguire

I'll ask you as well, when did the money go into our bank?

No. If the other club says they've rejected it, we know a bids been made.

As you're relatively new to the forum it might be worth checking out the many other threads that address the question of how the club is run. As has been pointed out on numerous occasions, it's not a case of every penny that comes in being spent on a quid pro quo basis. I wish it was all about transfers, but there's the running of the club to consider, and as many of us have been reminded, it's not a cheapo operation keeping United on the road.

Wilder's a canny operator, he knows that we can't broadcast the fact that we have a few extra quid, so don't be surprised if you read figures in the press that have little baring on what Wilder actually has to spend. Our manager will do things his way, and as it's continually repeated over and over, have a little trust. UTB

If he has £6'000'000 to spend does he spend it all on the one player or does he buy six 1000,000 pound player's and which one is the bigger gamble ?

Don't dare question Mc Cabe on here...his family forum members don't like it

Would you rather fight 1000 ant sized men or one giant man sized ant?

Where's the investment from prince and McCabe, 6m from walker and big H plus the investment that should be there with the step up from league one to the champ.

We have barely spent 1.5/2m (so made a profit) if wilder was given decent funds the play offs would be achievable .

Give him the cash McCabe and The prince ffs we've spent nowt , where's the ambition
Wilders already said we are not going daft with big money signings have faith in him even if we reach the premier league we will only be making the numbers up like the rest of them below the top six

"Pointing out" something that is demonstrably untrue is a worthless exercise. You discount the bid for Coady and declare it "doesn't count". That's silly juvenile nonsense. Not entirely surprising as you are patently a silly juvenile.

We have paid fees for Stearman, Evans, Stevens, Lundstram and Thomas. We have multiple offers in for players that could see us spend £5m before Jim White day.

We've spent money. We have plenty of ambition. Consider it pointed out.

To be honest I don't care how much we spend but if we do get some new players in I hope they are good players.

Does the money we spend go straight into the players clubs account straight away ? No
