Millwall away

Been twice, last one being when Dean Windass rocked up with a brand new blonde hair style, not a good look.
To say my mates and I and our fellow Blades weren't made to feel welcome is putting it mildly. Decided bollox to em, why give them money if they can't act like human beings? Anyone going needs to take care, we're due a win there and if so they don't tend to say well played and wish you a safe journey home!

It shows you how much quality in championship have gone up. When you think the season before the relegation year we finished 8th with most of that team. Last years team is a country mile better but came 10th

Interesting thought. That side was far far inferior to this one with the ball, but a lot better without it (the necessary trade off in a Blackwellian Pact).

To anyone going this season, the pub was Bunch of Grapes - it took barely 20 mins to get from the pub to the ground, just a few minutes on the train from there. But take out a mortgage before you go if you're not used to the price of beer in London pubs . Hope we play better thn we did that day, one moment of genius from both Duffy and Brooks but the rest was shite
Is that my best bet then with my 9yr old twin boys, the bunch of grapes?

Obviously I'm looking for a easy ride in and out of bermondsey to watch the mighty blades with my boys...

12th September 1970, my dad decided not to go to Millwall as it was "too far" and at the time I had only been to one away league match. My Wendy supporting twin uncles took me to watch Wendy v QPR (Wendy won with a Wilcockson goal). I was keeping my eye on the Blades latest score on the scoreboard at the bottom of the North Stand. It was 0-0 for about 30 minutes before they changed it to A-A. My uncles had to explain to me what "abandoned" meant!, Both of my uncles were confused because the weather in Sheffield was dry and sunny. Reading the papers there was a torrential downpour at the Den. We won 2-1 in the re-arranged match a few days later. Colquhoun and Currie scored

Anyone in here go to Millwall twice in a few days in September 1970?

Can’t remember result but first visit in 84 when they addd some extra ventilation to the coach on London Bridge with the aid of a few house bricks

I remember us winning there 2-1 Edwards and Morris pen, I think.

We were losing 1-0 when I got there...but we equalised soon after. It was only when I cheered and the United fans went bonkers on the opposite end, that I realised I was on their kop. Oops.

I was bricking it...but, apart from a few hard Paddington bear stares, no one bothered me at all. For which I was eternally grateful.

what about the barrowboy and banker

Cockney rhyming slang? :D

Impossible to predict this one. We're fourth in the table, they're 22nd. As we saw on Saturday, surely Leeds would beat Birmingham? Stoke at home to newly-promoted Blackburn? Bolton to triumph at winless Ipswich?

A fifth of the season gone and there's still no front-runner. I fully expect Leeds to lose again on Friday.

I remember winning there 4-1 a long time ago. we would have taken a defeat to be honest as our mark 3 Cortina was the only car in the car park after the game with the coaches. We got targeted under the bridge and followed through London ,this all after having eveything thrown at us including bricks and half a telegraph pole ,plus some cockney geezer walking amongst us all with a flick knife as we were held after the game. The good old days
was at the isle of dogs a couple of months back. was quite astonishing . it is packed with huge tower blocks full of million pound apartments. porsche's ten a penny :/

Can’t not go to this. It’s 15 minutes walk from my house and there are some cracking independent breweries. Could be a great away day.

Been twice before, once to watch us when Wilder ‘got the beers in’ on the team coach on the way back after we were shite. Once to watch Wednesday with my dad.

Never had any trouble. Never seen Millwall lose though...

Genuinely does feel like the last time we won there was that match with Geary's manic last minute winner. I was there that day with a Millwall-supporting mate, who was sat in the Blades end with me for one reason or another. If only someone had taken a picture of the stand when we scored. A couple of thousand Blades fans going mad and one guy just sat there head in hands. Priceless.

Suppose these years of Millwall doing us over at The Den is his kind of pay back. Anyway, I'll be there on Saturday. Just like every other season.

Went a couple of years ago when we lost 1-0 under Adkins.

Had a few pints of Barnsley Bitter in a Spoons in Peckham then got an Uber to Fourpure Brewery Tap which is situated in a railway arch just behind South Bermondsey station. Decent craft ales and mixture of tourists, Blades and 'Wall fans. No bother what so ever.

Blades fans penned in behind the stand after the game for 25 mins half an hour which was a pain in the arse. There were plenty of scrubbers hanging round in the cold to goad fans waiting at the station and on the walkway but no trouble.

Also, London Bridge area has plenty of boozers and it's a pretty swift train from there to South Bermondsey. Minor warning that there will be a lot of Millwall fans about in that area too. They won't necessarily seek out trouble but you know what football fans can be like towards loud opposition fans in colours. If you do want a slightly less lively place for drinking pre-match, I'd recommend The George. It's about five minutes down the high street from the station and a bit quieter. Still £5+ a pint, mind, but it's been there since the middle ages Wikipedia tells me so maybe that's the price you pay for a bit of history too.

Took my lad last season of a similar age and went in barrowboy and banker was full of blades, then went in markets.. plenty of boozers in there aswell full of blades, didnt have any problems whatsoever just told him to keep quiet when on train up to ground as was near enough all home fans

MIllwall will be a good test of our credentials they might not have have had a great start but at home they’ll be tough opposition, Boro & Leeds only came away with a point from there ,need to be at it from the whistle if we want to come back with anything ,As we know they took 4pts off us last term ; we turned up there’s last year a bit too cock sure & deservedly to got FA as a result & at ours managed to turn 3pts I fo one from an awful piece of defending .
There a dangerous side on set pieces but i think in Egan we’re a bit bettering equipped at defending them than last season .
If we set about them like we’d did Bolton we’ll do ok

Go and do a bit of touristy sight seeing, tower bridge, Tower of London etc. then walk along the river path to London Bridge and jump on the train. There are plenty of decent pubs in that area if you want a beer before catching the train.

That's what i think I'm going to do,walk the river path from london bridge to tower bridge, maybe couple of pints a bite to eat a few photos with boys then back up to London Bridge for train to bermondsey and into ground.

I do remember with a shudder the only time I went to the old Den , and the drive away from the ground afterwards when every window was put through on every coach! One consolation was that as we were bombarded with coins for the full 90mins of the game I managed to pick up almost enough money to pay for the day out!

Can’t wait to kidney punch a few lame ones from behind.

Is there an orphanage for the severely disabled in the vicinity?

Come on you slaaaaaaggggssss!

Anyone know how many tickets we have sold for this one?

I went by train / tube, drinking in pub by London Bridge before match heaving with blades fans then about 10,000 coppers lining the strange fenced gangway direct from the station to the away end. I've seen more danger of trouble at Tunbridge Wells FC

Well you’ve clearly never seen the TWICF in action after one too many from the picnic hamper. Fuckin mental and nasty with it. I very nearly had to pack up my picnic blanket and move position. There was canapés and champers bottles flying everywhere. Don’t mess with Big Tarquin... nuff said...

Ps - Druid St has 5 microbreweries and lots of food places. Pricey, trendy and busy but a good walk from London Bridge to the ground if there’s only a few of you and you’re there early and you want to try brews in their birthplace. It’s called the Bermondsey mile and ends at 4pure as already mentioned. Please note
Kernel no longer do tours on Saturday. Lack of khazis is a problem so not for the sensitive bladdered. Greenwich is good and you can get the riverboat back to London Bridge as a different option.
Royal Oak is an ace Harveys pub not too far away and good for those who favour trying 6 ales in one place.
In Borough Market The Rake is craft ale heaven and a good place to start.

Enjoy!

Love Harvey’s beer and been in there a few times and not just on football trips. The Rake is always worth a stop off.

Went to the first one that got postponed. It really did pour it down and the ref was right to abandon it. Gil Reece was running the ball down the left wing and it ran into the water. He carried on running but the ball stopped dead. It was just standing water on both wings.
They went off for a few mins whilst the groundstaff "did their utmost to get the best drained ground in London playable". One guy with a short tined fork prodded the pitch in the centre circle twice and then gave up and it was called off. I couldn't get to the rearranged game but we won so happy days :)

I have been twice to the old Den, although not a pleasant experience it was far better than I expected. As I came back with all my body parts intact.
Personally I don't have any issues with Millwall fans.
I expect us to win there on Saturday.
