Wonder how many have release clauses?

Rumour that Anel has one at 17m.

Wonder if Souza does?

Nightmare scenario is that someone comes late on and triggers the clause, there’s nothing we can do and it’s too late for a replacement.

Fingers crossed.

I think we’ve recruited ahead of the curve re Anel by bringing in Souttar and Gilchrist.

I’m somewhat relaxed about loosing Souza late on as well - happy to go with Hamer in there and would be excited to see Peck get a few games. Ideally I’d keep Souza but think we’ll cope.

I’d hate to lose Hamer. Although, even if we do, there is still a strong starting ‘3’ with O’Hare, JRS, Campbell, Brooks, maybe even Burrows.

Ideally we lose no one and add a couple more into the squad. But if we do lost one late on, as long as it’s for a good price, we’ve covered ourselves pretty well for once. I don’t think it will be on the same level as losing Ndaiye and Berge last year.

Sheffield United have agreed a deal worth up to £2.5 million for winger Mikey Johnston with Scottish giants Celtic.

Blades boss Chris Wilder has been battling with rivals, including Burnley, for the Scottish wide man who starred for West Brom last season.

Johnston’s arrival adds to the Blades squad but also gives them cover if Leeds come back for Gustavo Hamer.

Leeds would have to reach £18 million to land Hamer after their £13 million bid was rejected - as revealed.

Player who never made more than 15 league appearances in the SPL a season.

Basically because he had a great loan at WBA. Let's hope it's clicked for him

If this comes off, we have landed a very good player. I watch a lot of Celtic games and have a lot of time for Mikey. Really good feet and very positive with the ball. Fingers crossed

Very few Celtic fans would agree with this.
However, West Brom fans seem to rate him from his time there.
At £2.5m it's relatively low-risk so worth a go (though Sarmiento going to Burnley would have been my preferred option, having seen a lot more of him).

Sheff Utd agree £2.5m deal for Celtic winger Johnston

Latest from Sky Sports News' Anthony Joseph and Tim Thornton:
Sheffield United have agreed a fee of around £2.5m for Celtic winger Mikey Johnston.
It is anticipated that this agreement could smooth things over in Celtic’s pursuit of Blades centre-back Auston Trusty.
The Hoops have been open to offers for the Republic of Ireland international, who had a successful loan spell at West Brom in the second half of last season.
Sky Sports News reported earlier today that Celtic have made a £5m bid for Trusty.

Worth noting Sarmiento was mostly just used as a sub by Ipswich, who then haven't chosen to buy him.

Edit: Looked exciting on EFL highlights though, no doubt.

Plus he's foreign so no good for us. That's why Anel, Souza, Hamer and Trusty are the ones we're getting arrt.

Makes you wonder why WBA aren't back in for him.

Don't disagree but not long to get potentially get 2 more defenders in before Friday though.
Depends if Anel goes as well, if he doesn't then I still think him and Souttar would be our best pairing with JLT, RND (+ Gilchrist) as backups, then sign another RB

Well, the very few are very wise in their judgement :)

In all honesty, the problem he has had is the depth of talent in his position. Celtic have a very good team for the division they are in. Apart from the Old Firm, they are expected to win every game comfortably. He hasn't taken his chances when he has had them, admittedly - that said, he has shown he isn't scared to beat players inside and out. He loves a 1-2 to break through lines..... all the things we need and are lacking on the left.

I reckon with a run of games he would do well for us. Worth a punt at the price.

61 appearances in 8 years in one of the worst leagues in Europe.

Dave White was definitely past his best and a bit of a crock, but get him on the pitch for us and he was still very handy.

Remember us playing Wolves at the Lane in a big promotion match and White scoring twice for us as we came back each time to level it at 2-2. United put the pedal round the metal and were absolutely all over em for the last 15 and heaven knows how we didn't score. Then in the last minute of injury time, the Wolves centre half just hacked it clear in desperation...and it landed just perfectly between our two centre halves for their one speedy lad up front to run onto and score a winner. Gutted doesn't do it justice. Still am at the thought.

White was decent for us and a cracking buy from Kendall for £500k.
David Whites Dad / uncle was on our board at the time I believe. Wasn’t this the reason we signed him?

Agree to this.

Then add 2.5m to the Trusty fee! 🤣

Not sure I've heard the name Mikey since the short-lived game show Interceptor
I'm glad there's someone else who remembers this great show, Challenge showed the episodes a few years ago.
