I don't see that it changes that Fleck was correctly sent off. In today's game it was a red, straight up. I think also in the Kane incident, the ref had had his back to it as the ball had gone about half an hour ago, I don't think he got a clear view of the tackle.

I didn't argue that the Fleck sending off wasn't correct under the current interpretation.

If the ref didn't see the Kane incident then why hasn't Kane been given a 3 match ban retrospectively through the review panel? Thought it was for incidents of that nature.

My argument was around the evident inconsistency in the application of the law.

My recollection was that the ball went, the ref turned his back to follow the ball and missed the full extent of the badness of Kane's tackle (ooh-err). Kane was booked though, meaning no retrospective action. He should have been sent off though, I agree. Same as Ali.

I'm no fan of Dean in the slightest but we deservedly lost that game, primarily because Blackwell showed he had learned the square root of fuck all from our previous games against them that season.

Deane was also the ref that sent off Kilgallon at the Sty for the high kick when we lost 1-0 in 2009. You see people kick higher and not get sent off in every single game you go to.

Refs are human and maybe if it was Ferguson saying that then maybe it might stick with the ref, but Blackwell and Sheffield United ffs.

In fairness the decision to send Killa off at the Sty was a poor one imho but I didn't see any benefit in our position to criticising the ref before the game. Dean would see himself as bigger in the game as Blackwell anyway.
