I agree that it will be very difficult to replace these 2 based on how they have done over the last couple of years.

For me I think the only way to find better might be to go down the loan route where the fee/wages might be equal to what we might have to pay for Mandron

I don't particularly mean yougsters, but for example the likes of grabban who was at both Sunderland and Villa last year, whilst I admit is probably out of our reach, it shows there are good strikers out there you could get on loan.

Personally I think we should go after Nakhi Wells, think he would fit in really well with our style of play

Grabban who at 23 (The same age as Mandron is now) had just signed for League 2 Rotherham after scoring a total of 16 goals so far in his career.....

Completely agree with regards to taking gambles but I personally don't see we have the budget to take on gambles, we already have 1 in Ched who may/may not come good.

I also think it's down to ambition, if we genuinely want to push onto the next level we need somebody proven at this level I believe, not easy I know but I think gambling on an unknown striker with a relatively poor goal return at a lower level, even as backup, is a risk we can't afford.

Now if we are happy just treading water in the championship for the next few years then by all means let's take these gambles and see if any come off

I think it depends what you see as being a gamble. There are players in the lower league who have scored goals and might be worth taking a 'gamble' on based on the fact they are a proven scorer.

Mandron has only reached 10 goals twice, once in the national league and once in league 2, if he was maybe 18-19 again might be worth a gamble but he is 23 and when he moved to then championship side Wigan he barely played and was sold after 6 months there.

That says it all .

Forget all this being tall , fast, French and black nonsense . The first and probably only thing to look at when considering buying a striker is " does he put that big round object in between the posts a lot " ?

If the answer is no , then look somewhere else or you might finish up with another James Hanson .

The noble Doctor Pace had none of the above attributes , apart from the one about putting the ball in the net.

People need to relax, some saying we cannot do this because of the budget and then don’t know the budget.

Be patient signings will come. No one mentioned Dean Henderson and then it’s announced.

He left Uddersfield for more money. Burnely are a more established PL side so I'd guess he's on £25- £35k per week.

This would be a great signing to start 'Plan Wednesday'. All we need is a few more like him on £30k per week and then start sticking some tarpaulin sheets on the Kop.

We too could be 'massive'!
