We've seemingly have a myriad of issues in there at the moment:

Fleck: Hasn't looked himself since January. Have we knocked back a Premiership offer for him? When he misses a couple of games he always seems to take 2/3 games to warm up again. He's so left footed as well.

Evans: Looks shattered to me. He's done well since coming in. It's a slow process for a new player to acclimatise to the way we play/played, so fitness will take a while. Looks like he could use a rest.

Lundstram: Looks like a player who improves the more he plays. He's not quite there in terms of fitness or composure. He's one who will definitely improve but looked slow in terms of deed and thought at times and always liable to get caught on the ball.

Leonard: Looks like that kid at school who was so determined to do well that he made a mess of everything. He needs time to settle in but needs to get his head straight and not grab at everything.

Duffy: He's been dreadful of late. Not sure whether the pace of games has completely caught up with him. He could barely last 60 minutes at the end of last season and put in a heroic effort at the start of this one. However, we're better with a dreadful Duffy than no Duffy as he links everything up.

Holmes: Seems to have been continually injured since we signed him.

Brooks: Does he have another injury now after the illness and the last injury?

Carruthers: Looks like he thinks more of himself than any one else. Apparently he played well in the U-23s last night. Given our issues with injuries and fitness, there is a big opportunity for him at the moment should he be bothered to take it.

Stevens: As an extension of the midfield he;s been absolutely dire the last few months. Half-hearted. Slow. Needs 3 touches when one would suffice. Slow and laboured. I'm not sure what's happened to him but he looks like a different player from earlier in the season.

Baldock: He needs to be more positive and just have a go more often. When he does he's usually our biggest attacking threat. Every game he gets a chance.

For me, defensively we've tightened up. Whether that's at the cost of getting forward is another question. However, the formation and the way we play relies heavily on the midfield. If the midfield aren't retaining possession, moving the ball quickly or covering, then it simply doesn't work. We seem incapable of putting our foot on the ball at the moment. Too much hoof and panic.

In summary, I think we're desperate for someone to be able to do the Duffy role when Duffy can't for fitness or form reasons.

A bit like the defence before Xmas, our midfield is more of an abstract theory than a contributing factor at the moment

How has Duffy been dreadful? Apart from qpr Tuesday, he’s been quality

Midfield! What midfield?
They were totally anonymous last night!

I thought we were playing 2 strikers, 3 defenders and a keeper!

Some fair comments in there ,bit harsh on Duffy though ,only Qpr hes been poor.

How on earth has Duffy been 'dreadful'? A quiet game against QPR = 'dreadul'?

When Duffy came on last night, we looked marginally better. But we couldn't string simple 5-10 yard passes together.
Another problem we had was hoofing the ball to Clarke and Dawson every time beating Clarke.

Dreadful is the wrong world for Duffy. I was probably comparing his performances to being our best player early in the season. I'll change that to disappointing. He's been below par for the last few weeks. Which may well be tiredness.
