Just to clarify,

I started at Bramall Lane in 1987, left in June 1999 to join Hull City and returned to Bramall Lane in February 2000.

I'd also like to publicly thank Rooks for helping me sort a letter from CW to my dad a few years ago. It was just after the L1 promotion and my dad was going downhill fast with Alzheimers. I asked Mick if he could get CW to write to my dad about the promotion campaign, to see if it would help give dad something to focus on for a bit. It was duly organised and delivered. Unfortunately Dad never got to read it as shit developed quicker than we'd imagined. But it was hugely appreciated none the less.

I knew John Calvert more. But Mick behind the scenes helped me out on numerous things. Untouchable on the basis he worked for my team, which I was in awe of. And that is 26 plus years ago

Got into bother at Southampton many years ago when I was young and daft.

He phoned me up and don’t get me wrong he didn’t condone my behaviour and gave me a warning but made it a nice call telling me that we’d all been that age once and all done daft things

I suspect there are a lot of Blades who can say they were having trouble with something United related and Rooks sorted it out for them. Everyone I know who’s had dealings with him has nothing but praise, he would always do his most to help a Balde out whenever possible. Not enough people like him around.

ive worked at the lane and he can be a prickly chuff my way to deal with him when he was on one was to tell him to fuck off.

Looked after me when I was a mascot against Swindon when I was about 9/10. Had the likes of Holdsworth, Saunders, Dean, Quinn, Borbokis in the team then. I was genuinely petrified at meeting all these Gods and he just made it feel so relaxed. My Mum always spoke so highly of him for the way he treated us. Congratulations Mick.
