I thought he had been at the Lane alot longer than 20 years . I remember him working for SUFC in the 80s or is my mind playing tricks with me?.

Congrats Rooks

Came close to being a victim of our relegation to LG1 I think didn’t he. Remember some uproar about it a few years ago. Would never have even been a discussion if Chris was in charge back then.

I never got the chance to personally thank Mick, so will do it publically via this forum. About 12 years ago, you helped me with getting a shirt signed by all the players, as a gift to my girlfriend (now wife).

Thank you so much if you read this, and of course thank you if you don't :D

Top man, made a memorable mascot day for my youngest son (many years ago) and the missus when she saw Dean Saunders with just a towel round his waist in the pre match dressing room. Mick was also the person that dealt with us that were selling 50/50 tickets pre match (remember them, Brearly years).

Have you still got it and is it in good nick or is it showing signs of wear and tear now?

(the wife I mean) 🤔

I would also like to publicly thank Mick.
It was Christmas Eve in the 1990s and United had an away match on Boxing Day. It was a match I particularly wanted to go to as it was a new ground in my quest to belong to the 92 club. I’d ordered my ticket over the phone a few days earlier, but hadn’t picked up the ticket. However I left it too late hadn’t I?
The ticket office staff had gone home. It was Christmas Eve after all. Bramall Lane was in complete darkness. I wouldn’t be able to go to the away match. I just looked at the eerily quiet building, thinking how stupid I had been.
Just as I was about to leave the car park, out came Mick. He was locking the door. He was last man out of the building for the Christmas break. I rushed over to him.
”Could you possibly get my ticket for the Boxing Day match? It’s in the Ticket Office in an envelope with my name on it.” It was said more in hope than expectation.
”No problem.”
He unlocked the door, went in and got the ticket.
Thanks Mick for your kindness and consideration. Your gesture was much appreciated. You are are a credit to United.

Did we win ?

I would know Mick for nearly 30 yrs and if anyone epitimises our great club its Mick Rooker. I was over at the Brighton game recently and he sorted me and my family with a tour of the ground which went down very well with them, nothing too much trouble. Congrats Mick and looking fwd to seeing you at the lane in the not too distant future.👍

An absolute legend is Mr Rooker. He is United through and through and nothing too much trouble for him when it comes to helping fans out. Hope he spends the rest of his career at BDTBL.

Smashing bloke and the best PR exponent at BDTBL which comes naturally to him, he once even came to our house when my lad ( very young then ) was a bit messed up with his Blades money collections , he was great chatted to us about the Blades and then told my lad to keep the cash ( not a lot but still ! ) made his day !. Then over the years you would see him and he would remember your name and chat he has an amazing memory as far as Blades fans go lol. We lost track of our named brick -- they keep moving them ! -- no big deal but we went in one match day years after and not only did he remember us once again he took us straight to where the brick was with out even looking it up !!.. Top man ,Top Blade , thanks Mick. Mr Hodgson.

Absolute class fella, we are really lucky to have him at our club.
