Got himself a goal today.

Solid player in this league but I agree with others he would need replacing IF we get promoted.

Doyle has improved under Clough but he adds nothing to the team going forward, ok he scored today but I am talking about his passing.
We have no need for a guy to sit in front of our back four when we play at home, he commits too many needless fouls, gives the ball away to easily and should be replaced by Basham who, provided the energy, physical presence and height required in that position.
Kennedy and mcceveley to centre back with another centre back to come in pre season. Mcgahey is unfortunately not the answer at the moment, he has all the attributes of a centre half , but at he moment seems not to gave the drive commitment and brains yo play at a decent level, let's hope he benefits from a spell away

its what makes football such a wonderful game, three guys I go to the game with all think he offers nothing when we play a home, but hey ho he scored.

Doyle is becoming one of the first names on the team sheet . If he does leave at the end of the season , someone at this level will get a dedicated professional and a bargain.

I take it you didn't see the game today? Doyle was immense. Ran that midfield with Basham and ran all game... Against a side with an extra man in midfield

Doyle was MoM yet again for me today I've thought at times this season and last he's done a very quiet job, but he's really running things at the moment and despite his age he's probably the fittest and most committed players out there.

His passing has often been wayward and at best crap. But last few games he's passing has vastly improved. Have very little away today

I thought he was awful for large parts of the game. Strolled around without getting close to their midfield. Coventry had the run of midfield and nobody was willing to close them down or put a tackle in.

You can't press teams with 10 men, I don't know you can have watched that game and think he was awful. Kind of thing that sees me avoid forums a lot of the time.

On a more general point: fans have a vocabulary of a few set phrases, including 'get into em' 'close him down' etc as if it's as simple as running up to a player and getting the ball. Not enough people realise that pressing is risky and unsustainable much of the time. Also it's somewhat pointless at times, just let them knock it about for a bit, stop getting so stressed.

Stop talking sense ,I take you have played the game.

Agree totally Doyle JUST shaded MoM from Basham. Fabulous performance with 10 players from a 34 year old.

We used up one of our get out of jail cards, primarily due to Doyle and Basham's commitment in midfield.

it's all about context.. there is a time for 'gerringtoem' and a time for 'gerritdahn'tfield'.. it is not 'always' appropriate

I can see why Sky originally credited the goal to Murphs, quality finish indeed.Doyle always puts a shift in, not the most gifted in the team but following his sending off last year against Fulham he has improved, both as a leader and a player. Not his biggest fan but would be one of the first on the team sheet. Also I think. He could do a job for us in The Championship.

Apologies if this interview has already been posted before, but great little piece from Doyle from after the Charlton game last season, fast forward to 2mins 48secs: https://audioboom.com/boos/1978298-...-how-we-brought-it-you-on-bbc-radio-sheffield

Doyle has had a lot of stick from fans over the years, but this just goes to show how much he loves the club. Good to see fans have been behind him this season and he appears to have won supporters over. I would think this might be his last season with us, hope he can finish on a high!
He will be one of the hardest players to replace..........wish he was 25/26, but then again, he wouldn't be playing for us. For me he's been a very underrated players who's attracted miles more stick than he deserved.

I wasn't at the game on Saturday, or many other games this season for that matter. But it may be easy to forget the needless red cards Doyle used to accumulate, the Fulham one last season being the most prominent. He used to put needless pressure on his team mates, which is why he used to get the stick he did. It also takes time to then brush off that stigma, but 1 year on I think he's done fantastically well at doing so. I was astounded when we offered at 31 year old Doyle a 3 year contract (financially I think we had to), however, now 34 I'd be astounded when he's not in the middle of the park taking the pressure off our younger diminutive midfielders.

I just hope we get ourselves another leader like him, and a few more throughout the spine of the team, similar to 2005 when we signed 3 or 4 older pros to lead the team.
