It niggles me that he chose Forest over Wolves in a way. I get it - Steve Cooper is the obvious reason. I like Wolves actually, all the battles we've had with them for years and years, especially in the 90's. They beat us too at Wembley too of course but there's never been any niggle particularly, I think the two clubs respect each other. Then there's Forest and they are just very different to United. They're a proper football club, but the rivalry between United and them, it's the most I've ever known apart from Wednesday. That play off defeat, it wasn't the defeat, it was the way they celebrated and they'll probably get no more than a slap on the wrist fine.

Then Morgan Gibbs White going there, I honestly wouldn't have minded him joining anyone else in the Premier League, Including Leeds. It just had to be Forest didn't it!

Neh, he's not Portugese enough for Wolves.

Nobody can say that any team is safe in the Prem
It only takes the manager to have a paddy about something or one player to throw a wobbler and you get relegated, simple as that.

Given the choice I'd rather see Wendy get promoted than them scummy bastards stay up

Very unpopular on here I know, but I just don't hate forest , maybe it's growing up when Clough was there, I used to love watching them

I know we are supposed to dislike them but I just don't

I second that, i like actually quite like cooper but otherwise i feel pretty impartial towards them. I think their fans can be annoying (think they are waaaay bigger than they are) but as a club they don’t annoy me as much as they do some on here.

I like their badge.
Other than that thought they can get to fuck.
They're famous for one thing really, Robin Hood. Who they stole. Scab thieves.

I mind them! I don't like their anti Yorkshire sentiment for starters, I lived in Nottingham and found their fans to be exactly like how we feel about Wednesday; County fans were much more my cup of tea. I never found Nottingham to be a warm place, people wise, apart from the Notts fans I met ironically! As soon as I finished my degree I thought I'm never gonna live here, not a patch on Sheffield. It's a good night out, that's about the best thing I'd say on the place. Forest have won stuff fair enough, it could have been almost any team though, including us, that matched what Forest did because it was Clough not the pull of Forest. Before Clough they'd only ever won the second division and the F.A cup a couple of times. They should be a statue of the former Derby County Chainman Sam Longson in the City Ground car park because without him accepting Clough's resignation a few years earlier he wouldn't have have achieved what he did with Forest but with Derby instead. Derby had already won the First Division of course under Clough.

I do wish we'd appointed Clough obviously rather than Jimmy Sirrel! We'd have needed to sack Ken Furphy by January '75 to do that though, Furphy went in early October '75, Clough to Forest was in January '75. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Is he talking about the atmosphere at the match where their fans assulted our players? His team-mates at the time? I would have probably avoided talking about that if I were him.
Other than the bit before that when they won the penalty lottery, (and any set of fans would be vocal after that, though maybe wouldn’t get arrested) most of the atmosphere came from the away end anyway because United were winning.

So, well done us.

And double well done us for developing him. He was probably an 8m player with potential. Now he’s up to 40m+ and the wages that go with it.

That down to his efforts but also how United handled and invested in him during the period. It says a lot for our coaching staff. They should be flicking us some of the fee as thanks! It certainly wasn’t down to Wolves that his value shot up!

They should have a Robin Hood statue on Loxley.

They just provided the bad guy in that story!
