Let's not start with the "he wasn't very good anyway" shite that the pigs come out with.

He was a superb player for us and will quickly adapt to the pace of the PL.
That's not what I meant! He was brilliant for us and worth the entrance fee just to watch him play, it just niggles me why the wolves were willing to let him go.

Forest are going to be absolutely financially fucked when they’re back down here next season.
My head says they are showing ambition and previous wage structures are out of the window sadly not something we could or would do. If we had done we would have had Maupey Cash etc and probably be still up there evolving in the right way.
They have bought a lot of young very good players and have a very good manager he will keep them up. The owner will throw more at it next season and they will likely stay around the premiership mid lower third for a number of years.

My heart says they go down this year we go up and they are screwed financially as they spend two three years back in the championship and then have to sell what's left .

If someone came in with th same offer for Berge i'd drive him to wherever has offered it. That's why wolves were willing.

It is a good move for MGW and for Forest, Cooper knows what he is getting.
I have read that the add ons are subject to Forest maintaining Premiership status, so that is also good business for them.
I don't think they are screwed financially, the players they have bought can if needed be offloaded again.

I see Forest staying in the Premiership for several years.

The "likely" add-ons mentioned won't be related to premier league status, they will be things like pay X after X appearances so all he has to do is stay fit. Local wolves journos basically saying 35 mill is guaranteed, the "unlikely" add-ons will be related to goals and assists you'd imagine and premier league status

I said yesterday that I wasn't bothered where he went, we knew it wasn't going to be united so joining Forest matters not. I tried to believe that until I heard this just now and felt sick! I stopped listening when he described the away leg atmosphere at the city ground as "never seen anything like it". I know he's got to sound excited at playing for a new club and all of that, he clearly likes Steve Cooper but I just wished it wasn't Forest. Apart from Wednesday Forest are the next worse! Would genuinely have thought fair play if he'd joined Leeds over Forest! At least Leeds are a Yorkshire side!

I agree loved him at the lane, and always will but fuck me that interview was just bollocks sucking up to a ground full of scabs. Gone down in my estimation as a person, as a player right up there with the best.

So he's not good enough for wolves but he is for forest... Strange one that.

Well it's done. Fee seems high to the point that I feel uncomfortable about it but I'm trying to remind myself that MGW is not only a committed player but also an exceptionally talented one.

Can't say much else about the 2nd leg can he really? He also played at the city ground in the 2nd game of the season (for wolves). if the difference between the two atmospheres doesn't show the impact of the manager (who already loves him) then nothing will.

Thanks for developing him 👍

Good luck Morgan. Its a shame its them, not us.. But that's the way it goes.
A football career is short lived, so can't fault you for taking the £££'s.
We've done the same in the past.
It's just business. You cunt. :)

They do talk some shite in these interviews. Can count on one hand the number of people who have ever remarked The City Ground has a special atmosphere. Bang average even in the playoff semis.

Wtf are Wolves doing? Coady and now this
My take is that they’re getting rid of players who want to leave. Coady asked for a transfer as he didn’t think he’d be first choice and wanted to play regularly, with the WC coming up.
MGW seemed quite keen to leave, despite being picked for the first couple of games. He could have knocked Forest back after the first bid, just told them he wasn’t interested and wanted to fight for his place at Wolves. That they kept upping the bid, seems to indicate they felt he wanted to join them, that his agent had said he fancied it. It also looked like Wolves wanted to keep him, having started him in the first games.
So my guess is that they felt they’d done all they could to convince him to stay but, if he still wanted to leave, get the best price for him. He must really rate Cooper because he didn’t seem to push for a move to Everton, I don’t think they even came back with a second bid, which makes me think he’d told them he wasn’t that bothered. It’s either that or, for some reason he was desperate to leave and only Forest would meet the asking price.

There are also things like crowd sizes, league position etc.

The City ground is decent for atmosphere, but not so sure it is any better than comparable grounds. Also it doesn't have a Kop and I prefer grounds which have a Kop; even if Hillsborough is included in that!

I wish MGW hadn't joined Forest, anywhere than them Forest! But I still wish him all the best, I just hope that we replace Forest in April and MGW leaves for another team, I doubt it will be us sadly even if we got promoted.

I am told from a Forest friend, who is involved in the club, although they are spending a lot of money, there is a lot of protection in the contracts in case of relegation and a lot of the transfer fees quoted are built around add ons.

Is he talking about the atmosphere at the match where their fans assulted our players? His team-mates at the time? I would have probably avoided talking about that if I were him.
Agreed, but I think MGW is very good at telling fans what they want to hear. I'm not saying he's disingenuous but I think he likes to connect with the fans at the club he plays for as he did with us, the Forest game was probably still in his mind as a loud atmosphere, I'm sure he wasn't pleased either with the fans on the pitch but now these are the fans he's playing for he's got to put it in a positive light in respect to the overall atmosphere. That's my guess anyway.

MGW was in their XI this season. The money got to a point where they thought it could be better utilised elsewhere.

They brought in Matheus Nunez for similar money who has Champions League experience and has been described by Guardiola as one of the world's best young players. He was linked with Liverpool all Summer.

I think I must be one of the few that doesn't think Forest have overpaid. £25m up front is very reasonable. If he triggers the add-ons thereafter he'll have made up the additional value.
He's a great player, gutted he went there, but we move on..

It niggles me that he chose Forest over Wolves in a way. I get it - Steve Cooper is the obvious reason. I like Wolves actually, all the battles we've had with them for years and years, especially in the 90's. They beat us too at Wembley too of course but there's never been any niggle particularly, I think the two clubs respect each other. Then there's Forest and they are just very different to United. They're a proper football club, but the rivalry between United and them, it's the most I've ever known apart from Wednesday. That play off defeat, it wasn't the defeat, it was the way they celebrated and they'll probably get no more than a slap on the wrist fine.

Then Morgan Gibbs White going there, I honestly wouldn't have minded him joining anyone else in the Premier League, Including Leeds. It just had to be Forest didn't it!
