Neil Warnock with a pretty awkward chewing-gum based celebration, after Unsworth scores...

No 2-2 draw at the Lane when Waggy and Chilton were in Hull's team. Must be either the 1-1 draw in April 1969, us winning 3-0 in October 1969 or that infamous 2-1 defeat in March 1971
Probably the 1-1 then.

Who was that little ginner that played for them back then? Pint sized but bloody good player? (Not Quinny obviously!).

Brilliant post that. Must have took a lot of work. Many thanks for reviving some great memories.

I think my first one was a 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane. They had Wagstaff and Chris Chilton in the side. Remember also seeing Brian Marwood terrorise us when he was a Hull player. Many years before he joined us, via Arsenal I think.

Best memory though was going to a night match at Turf Moor to see Burnley prevent Hull from winning and send us up! Billy Whitehurst nearly gave me a heart attack that night but Burnley prevailed. And we sang in the streets of Todmorden on the way home!

Kind words, Cerberus. More a labour of love and in no way intended to be a ball-by-ball commentary, more a framework where others can add their bits. I just keep adding bits as they come to me. I've already done 'Memries of Burton' (obviously very short but some interesting factoids in there) and M of Fulham.

81 for me also for my first trip to Boothferry as a 13yr old , went on the special which dropped you at Boothferry station first time I’d seen a station that backed onto a ground , atmosphere was great stood on the the big terrace spot between 2 sets of fans with a massive netting stopping pieces of crumbling terrace being propelled over in both directions . We lost 4-1 , Porterfeld was in process of signing Edwards off them all blades were singing his name beforehand & the undporting twat repaid us with 2 of there four lol , obviously after I think he made up for it a little !
I remember my brothers and there mates telling me there would be some bollocks over there and what I saw they weren’t wrong !! At the think of that time they were one of the bigger rivalries in the lower divisions and fair play they always brought a decent away support to the lane also .
Never seen us win at there’s on my visits but seen us turn em over plenty of of times at ours ,
The semi is still fresh in my memory and for once we turned up at Wembley, both the our team and our fans were great both gave there all but we did ourselves proud , their support for that semi was embarrassing

Don't remember anything about my only visit to the KC Stadium, apart from it's a bloody long walk for away fans to get out of the ground.

Got fond memories of beating them 2-0 with ten men in 2008 when they were flying high.

Morgan got sent off just before half time but we were excellent that day and won comfortably.

Sharp won a penalty and Beattie converted it if I remember correctly.

My earliest memory of Hull is pipping them to automatic promotion from division three in 1983 on goal difference.

They had to win their last match by three clear goals to finish above us and they were two up in a hour but couldn't get the third goal. (This was before all the final games had to finish on the same day)

84 that that HG I along with about 3000 other Blades were there that night , Hull were 1-0 by 5he time we got in , Then 2-0 .. Jesus I think every Blades nerves were shredded from there on in , Roger Hansbury had a blinder in the net for Burnley ... the elation & more relief if I’m honest when the full time whistle went felt like I’d had a skip took off my back , I thought we’d fucked it when we lost at Bolton
After we were all outside all the pubs in Todmorden waving the Hull fans home

Happy Days

Seemed to cop for them a lot in early 80's. I was barely in my teens so my memory is a bit hazy but I certainly remember looking over the wall in the ground and being able to watch the train pull in. In those days you could lean out of the train windows and I swear there was hundreds of blades crammed on it. The atmosphere in those games was pretty tasty. Tigers tigers ra ra ra

We must have played Hull the most times in the late 70s and throughout the 80s. Remember going there for the first time in 1981, 1-1 draw the week before the Walsall debacle, sat in the stand behind the goal (where they ended up putting the supermarket). Went again in '81 in the fourth division, when Edwards scored their winner, was it a week before we resigned him, sat in the main stand this time. Played 'um twice again at Boothferry in 1982 League Cup and FA Cup, then 83 a 4-1 defeat in the League, 1-1 with ten minutes to go then capitulated late on, could be wrong but I think this was a game Stancliffe missed?? 84 full members Northern Final, when both teams put out a second string.

Next time was April 1986, when Phil Thompson was roundly booed (by our fans) when his name was read out before the game. This was the day the pigs lost to Everton in the FA cup semi final. We must have played them 86/87 put can't remember the away game, the season after in 1988 we won 2-1 when Bassett was manager but were relegated at the end of the season. Then the last time at Boothferry was around Feb 1990, if I remember correctly a dire 0-0 but we were promoted at the end of that season.
