I'm sure Blades of a certain vintage will remember Feb. 18, 1989. The Blades were in Division 3 and would be promoted at the end of that season. Dave Bassett had guided us to the 5th round of the FA Cup and we faced Norwich from the top flight at Carrow Road. Around 5,000 Blades made their way to East Anglia using any means of transport (including, according to legend a furniture van). 1-1 at half-time with a goal from Deano, an heroic display saw a goal from Agana before we unluckily lost 3-2.

11th May 1991, the last game of the season and the kop roof had been removed prior to making it all-seater. It seemed that everybody wanted to be on the kop that day and the laughable official attendance of 21,019 surely only counted those on the kop.

23rd April 1994. Although hovering near the foot of the PL table, United finally found some form and lost only 2 games out of the last 13 - beating Liverpool, Newcastle and West Ham in this run. A trip to Carrow Road with just four games left saw Nathan Blake score the only goal in a fine 1-0 win. "And now you're gonna believe us, the Blades are staying up!" roared the Blades fans and the Norwich fans applauded us.
Unfortunately, just 14 days later, a 3-2 loss at Chelsea (and an unbelievable sequence of events in other games) saw the Blades relegated from the PL.

Remember us being 0-2 down at half time once at Bramall Lane.

Being the smart kid I was I actually prayed to God at half time to get us back into the game.

It finished 2-2!

I remember an opening day fixture down there where the result was 2 2 . Tom Cowans made his debut .

I may be out with the date , score and debutant on this one ....... Norwich is afterall , a good place to be on the lash :)

August 1991. Deane and Hill put us 2-0 up before John Fleck's uncle two late goals

One of the last away matches of the season many moons ago (80/90's) think we won 1-0.

Sat in the side stand - Christ my memory is shit !!

UTB.

That will be the one grafikhaus mentions when Blake scored the winner.

Remembered walking back past their main stand after thst game and the dressing room windows opened onto the road. Whitehouse and a couple of other players were giving high 5's out the window to passing fans.

Then beat Newcastle at the Lane with a Blake double - really thought we were safe :-(

We generally do shit against Norwich.

As well as those mentioned:

A game that was on Sky I think at The Lane that we lost (3-2)? Kelly got injured and I think Roger Nilson went in goal?

Another with an outfield keeper at the lane - Norwich this time. Reckon they must have started with Bryan Gunn but then he was either injured or sent off and again, I think it was Darren Beckford who went in goal for them. We won but it took us ages to score past him.

And finally another match at Carrow Road and THAT goalmouth scramble - was that F.A. Cup too? May have been.

I was at that FA Cup game, still one of my favourite away days and having the incoherent Archie McPherson on the comms only adds to it. Didn't we also throw it away when Iffy Onura got injured?

We never looked back once that cart horse got injured - that season 02/03 we won at Norwich

The only game with Norwich City that springs to mind was my only visit to Carrow Road in 2008 when we lost 1-0 in injury time to a goal from ( I think )Robert Croft.

Best bit was just after the final whistle when Morgs and Lee Hendrie had to be separated in the centre circle before Morgs ripped the little fucker's head off.

I could be mistaken but I think this was also the game when Keith Gillespie gave Blackwell a shiner in the dressing room.

Other than that, just another decent Blades day out !!

My first visit there we lost 4-0 under Porterfield , had a mad weekend as a young un with my mates we were skint couldn't afford a B&B and we're gonna rough it , Ended up in a night club in Yarmouth where some local straw chewers decided they'd corner a few blades they thought they outnumbered ,a little misjudgement on there part that backfired , ended up kipping on the floor of the hotel of the set about lads from Worksop before getting caught & evicted by hotel owner in the morning after a few too many turned up at breakfast .
Last visit to there's for me was the 2-3 in the fa cup again great weekend ,
At home the the match when Porterfield got sacked after in 85 and the open top Kop in 94 seemed like the end of an era that day are the ones that spring to mind .

Hope he kicked the twat in the bollocks as well.
My only trip to Norwich was the FA cup game above, took my then girlfriend, I had ordered the ticket via post from Norwich. Sat in the main stand and when we scored loads of Blades started jumping around in their main stand, there was loads of us all over the place. I think Norwich were top of the League then.

F.A. Cup. 1959. 6th Round. Drew 1-1. Lost replay. Crowd: 57000. I was 11 and remember it well.

Great occasion and atmosphere with capacity crowd and marvellous away following..

Was there in 1989 too. Great game, best side lost.

Ive been to theirs 3 times and cant remember us winning once! Think even Chedwyn scored for them once when he was on loan there!

My memries of that 89 game: Steve 'Wide Load' Thompson's odd, splay-legged stance as he scored the OG; bedlam when we scored our first during which the guy in front of me took the opportunity to grab some lasses tits as she was briefly separated from her boyfriend in the surge; some Norwich hanging round for 'afters'; the fucking long drive back.

We were running late that day thanks to all the bloody caravanners. Was just going through the turnstiles as Deano broke the deadlock.........sodding campers!

Think we won a 1-0 home match around 69/70 season - can someone confirm please ?

I was 6 at the time !

In the last relegation season we played Norwich at the Lane, absolutely battered them, had umpteen chances which were either saved or cleared off the line, only scored one, and Norwich had about two attempts on target and scored with both resulting in a 1-2 defeat.

To top things off that colossal cunt Grant Holt did a personal lap of honour around the pitch at full time taunting all the Blades fans.

Would like a bit of revenge for that on Saturday.

.
Gunn was injured when his back went during the 1st half in January 1992 and was replaced by Darren Beckford.

Gunn was sent off for arguing with the ref during half time of our 2-1 win in Sept 1995 (he was protesting at Blake's equaliser). Rob Newman took over in goal and it was his misjudgement that led to Veart's winner. Fleck was suubed at half time, but got sent off from the bench after the linesman complained about him
