Your first and second choice keepers are injured. How is the guy who had to play not third choice?
We bought Mel Rees when Tracey and Kite were injured, it wasnt as if we had Rees at the club before Tracey and Kite were injured. We bought him on deadline date

So? Irrespective of how we acquired him, he was still third choice.

This guy, although only with us for a short time, was indeed worthy of being proud of !!!
He had a heart the size of a football and I don't mind admitting that I cried when he passed away ......
Could have been a great keeper for us if only time had allowed. With all the twats in the world like Ainsworth for example, it just makes you wonder if there is any justice at all !!!!

are there any decent videos of mel rees in action for th blades on you tube?

Mel was amazing in the few games he played for us ,can't believe he never impressed WBA enough to warrant them wanting to keep him!
It was like us bringing in an international keeper he was that good !
RIP Mel,we all loved you ...

I think only this video.

There are some others but I think they are of his time at West Brom and other clubs.

One memory was his great debut against Liverpooland Blades fans singing "England number 1", Rees was interviewed after the match and asked what he thought of the chants, his response was something along the lines of "flattering, but I'm Welsh", que the Everton match everyone was singing "Wales number 1", the irony was Southall was playing that day.
