That one away at GoodisonJust a handful of games ! We never got the chance to see what he could acheave.
He looked to have a great future only for it to be taken away by illness.
He made a big impression on us with his keeping and bravery fighting that illness.
R.I.P
I was right behind the goal for that. Wasnt it a save from Stuart 'Tracey' Barlow's header? Somehow he flicked it up and over the bar. That one away at Goodison.

It was the equavalent of what Seaman did vs Pesch, only 8 feet in the air and thus that much more difficult to pull off.I was right behind the goal for that. Wasnt it a save from Stuart 'Tracey' Barlow's header? Somehow he flicked it up and over the bar.
I remember being there that day. Fair play to the oinkers for standing and clapping him too. Rip Mel
Was that the one where either Beez or Gayle tried to chip him early on and he scrambled back to save it on the line ?I remember his debut. An absolute unknown keeper playing against Liverpool, and he was brilliant.
Such a really sad loss.
Defo. I remember me and my mate wondering how the fck he saved it!It was the equavalent of what Seaman did vs Pesch, only 8 feet in the air and thus that much more difficult to pull off.

Was the Leeds game the one with the Benny Hill defending?Always bears repeating: the scores from the 8 games Mel Rees played in for us:
United 2 Liverpool 0
Villa 1 United 1
United 2 Oldham 0
Everton 0 United 2
United 2 Spurs 0
United 1 Arsenal 1
Notts County 1 United 3
United 2 Leeds 3
I don't know any more if it's still the best side we've seen in my supporting lifetime, as I used to say - there's also 2019-20 now - but I have no doubt that that side was the "best" in terms of the quality gap between it and the top few teams.
RIP.
Difficult to compare. The top sides didn’t seem as far away in quality back then. I don’t remember us being completely dominated in any games in that period.Always bears repeating: the scores from the 8 games Mel Rees played in for us:
