Received email notification (as I guess many will have) that Speedo and Birchy will be sitting in front of an audience, answering questions...

"Meet The Manager
Season ticket holders will have priority to attend a Meet The Manager forum at which Gary Speed will have his first opportunity to meet supporters since his recent appointment.

He will be joined by chief executive Trevor Birch and, hopefully, a couple of first-team players on Thursday 9 September in the Millennium Suite on John Street, commencing at 7.30pm.

The Blades have regularly given fans the chance to put questions to the manager and senior staff on football matters in recent years and Gary has readily accepted his chance to answer them.

Doors will open at 6.30pm, free tea and coffee will be available, as will a pay bar.

The event - scheduled to conclude at 9pm - is by advance ticket only and on a first come, first served basis. Season ticket holders have their chance to book until 5pm on Friday 3 September by contacting the Ticket Office and should have their membership details to hand.

Call into the Ticket Office, call 0871 995 1899 or email [email protected], visit www.sufc.co.uk for more details.

Any tickets remaining will be available to non season ticket holders from 9am on Monday 6 September."

I did wonder if some of my fellow posters might be able to borrow a pair of bollocks and go and ask one of your many questions about the state of the club/squad/team. Then you can get an answer straight from the horses mouth. Mind you, as I don't expect the two guys to break down in tears and admit that its all a big pile of crap, I suppose you will declare it a phoney...

(Thought someone would have put this on already, but maybe we now think that talking to the people who actually DO run the club and hearing what they say is irrelevant..?)

Feck it, have a fish :fishy:

I'm waiting for this line to appear in the article. "...the event is to be hosted by local media whore, Foxy, from fansite S24SU...." ;)

I'm with you Lenners. Nowt they say will make me happy. 'McScrooge' dogging questions like Michael Howard, whilst Tricky Trev stands on top of Cheap as Chips mark II!? Not a selling club, won't be relying on loans, it was best for my pocket ..... I mean the club to sell BT, 2 Kyles, Tongue, Killa ..... we tried to keep em, BUT, we tried to sign him, BUT ...... it was those pesky agents. Same owd, same owd.

Why on earth should critics of the club question Speed in connection with our current demise. He is not to blame for our downward spiral since the Wigan game and I can't recall anyone on here ever saying he was.

Hi Trev, Olle of the "Sunshine Band". Would you like to join the Sunshine Band, we're up to 3 members now?

Another thing Trev, Olle again, I sent a letter last season after I travelled to Watford, can I have my £3.50 refund please

Swiss, Ypu've missed the point - It's called ' Meet the Manager' - Clue in the title
I would have thought the forum was a question and answer session for Speedo Not Bich.
My question will be ' With such a wafer thin squad and our track record for injuries do you think it prudent to rely on loans to cover our shortcomings despite our 'management' saying this would not happen again at the forum pre season'
plus a supplementary of 'It has become obvious that unless we get some creativity in midfield our forwards are of limited ability to score the goals we require to be anywhere neatr challenging for a top 6 spot!

I think they'd be a bit more rambling than that ;)

You're a clapper nowadays Fiery, so I can forgive you for thinking logically, but its a bit rich for you to state that the clue's in the title. How many threads have you hijacked in the past year ;)

Olle's boys in the Sunshine band are famed for turning any thread into a Sack the board/ manager/ ball boys etc

However to fall into line I've got a question or two for Speed then....

Olle: Gaz, If I go to Watford away and we're shit, will you reply to my letters and send me a refund

Olle: Will you join the Sunshine band if Birch does?

What has passed is passed. That is agreed. Those events only serve one purpose; to be raked over as often as possible by people who appear to have some deep seated psychosis.

It is his job to answer questions because he is now the man in charge of the team and squad. As for questions, how about 'I think we're shit. Do you think we're shit, Gary?' Thats pretty non-confrontational...

Here. Have another fish :fishy:

I would have but my DeLorean's up on blocks til i can find 1.21 Gigawatts of power for the flux capacitor.

I guess i'll have to do the boring thing and wait until this thursday..:D

Why does not attending an event you've no interest in going to constitute gonad deficiency?

No!! They won't have the bollocks DD. Just keyboard moaners. ;)

They've no bollocks. Same owd same owd.

These boys are right. I for one certainly don't have the back bone to challenge Speed and/or Tricky Trev. I'll just come on here afterwards and moan about whatever has been said. No matter what they say I'll find some faults. Even if TT and cheap as chips (mark II) put in a lawless performance I'll complain about the microphone, the hospitality and the clothes that they are wearing.

If I had the bollocks to ask Speedo some questions (which i clearly haven't being a keybaord moaner) i'd ask:

- how do you feel about being called cheap as chips mark II?
- have you been known to walk on water or turn 2 fishes and 5 loafs of bread into enough to feed an army?
(expects no, so follow up question is .....)
- well if you are not a miracle worker then what the fuck are you talking about promotion for, with that rabble that Kevin Blackwell has left you?
- will you sign this picture please? (address it to the 'sunshine band' and put a smiley face on it. Thanks).

I for one have bollocks like grapes so won't be going, looking forward to a good moan though.

nah I'm not going. I'll leave places for the bigger bollocks-ed Blades fans.

If you're going to make a big play about moaning, then turn up at these sessions and make your point.

It's very easy to snipe away with some vitriol from a distance and assassinate people's character from the safety of your PC, but then to miss opportunities like this seems completely bizarre to me. Surely if you devote a lot of spare time telling everyone on here about the problems at BDTBL, this is the chance of a lifetime?

Exactly, i simply don't understand the mentality of someone that professes deep lying love for the club and has major concerns about the direction that the club is heading, but when the club give the fans the chance to voice their concerns in a public forum, they don't go.

what nonsense.

I can't make the session, because I'm not in or around Sheffield on that Thursday night. Even then what would would it achieve? It's a forum for meeting the manager. See below.

This is a meet the manager forum. It is not a 'direction of the club' forum. I have no qualms with Speed taking over, in fact I think he was the right choice. I am fully behind Speed.

I suppose I could ask:

- are you frustrated with the team left behind by KB?
(but of course he will say no as he wants to build the confidence of his players)
- why didn't you bring anyone in before the window?
(we tried but ..... I'm happy with the squad anyway)
- what type of players are you looking to bring in?
(this will be asked by several).

I have plenty of questions to ask Birch and McCabe, however this is not about them. I wrote to Birch asking him to sack Blackwell and I've written to him about the sacking of Blackwell (saying it was a good decision, but the timing was awful). I think my letters will have more effect than a poxy question aimed indirectly at Birch and asked to Speed.

Ah you see Bramley and Highbury, There he sits Clapping his hands together in excitement while bouncing on his computer chair and grinning like a cheshire cat because he believes he scored points over you believing he has you all wound up.

Now your right about the bit in bold, After all he wanted pigs to beat us 4-0 to get Blackwell sacked. I would question his deep lying love as well.

But olly, from your posts in the last week or so, it's the on the pitch stuff that is concerning you. That is Speed's responsibility.

You could ask questions like the above, but also you could ask far more probing questions that will get you an idea of the direction Speed was taking us.

If i was there i would be asking what specifically does he plan to do regarding improving penetration in the final third, What contingencies are in place if we have the injuries we have had last season (in the sense, would he be getting in loans as cover, or will the academy lads get their chance.

I think it's great that the Speed is having this session, and i'll be waiting till i know what he's said before making my opinions. You seem to have already drawn your conclusions, based on what you think he'll say.
