We need a centre half still. But id be tempted to give McGuinness another chance this season and have our coaches spending time with him. Save the Souttar.money for a cheaper centre half and spend the rest on a winger and another attacking midfielder/forward.

Anything over £5-6m for Souttar should have us putting the phone down and moving on to other players.

Souttar coming in wont solve our lack of creativity and pace up front.

Showed this afternoon there is a reasonable player there. I would recommend getting someone half decent in on loan at CB and telling cheating Leicester to do one and spend our dough where we really need it, LW and creativity in midfield UTB
I thought he was shite.
Slow to react.
Slow to anticipate
Slow in the head
He’s a liability.
Lucky for him Tanga got him out of the poop on several occasions.

Done alright today but let’s not let one game get in the way of what we already know. He should only be here if we can’t get rid. His professionalism might help us and him get a move so respect for that.

Thing is unfortunately he’s got no chance, Wilder has already publicly thrown him under the bus and told everyone that will listen that he doesn’t have a future here and his pigheadedness will ensure he will get him out asap regardless of his performances

Agreed, Phil jones was similar, big lump not the fastest but made a decent career

If we trust him as a coach, give him the job of getting a player outta mcguiness

Like he did with Coutts?

I remember Chris Wilder transfer listing Coutts and Freeman a few years ago…

You watched a different game to me,he did ok,hardly a foot wrong, won everything in the air, passed it ok,Tanganga made a great tackle but it wasn’t Mcg’s fault. Overall, him and Cooper looked well. I’m sure a nippy un will give him problems though.

Only ucker passing it back to cooper from the half way line x 3 times in the second half when we are camped in their half only for cooper to then hoof it
Mcguiness is extremely limited

He wasn’t ok he was basic at best not what is needed

I thought his one mistake was the time Tanganga came across to cover for him, but he's a decent centre back in my opinion. Not the most talented footballer, but as many have said, Freeman and Couts were on the transfer list at the start of 16/17 and both played a positive role in the season

When there is no movement in front of you, either midfield or up front there is only 1 option, that comes from Wilder on the sidelines saying “start again “. Yes he is limited but I could name you nearly a team full of our starters that are of the same description. He’s no Harry Maguire,I’ll give you that.

Did OK but definitely not the way forward-if you are as slow as him- you have to have great anticipation he hasn't therefore always one step away from disaster.

The worst on the pitch today was Cannon - Chris has to get over the 10 million that's sailed and literally needs to forget him, you can no longer defend the undefendable he's worse than useless.

I saw several times when he was out of position or not in the game. One instance where he put it out for a throw he had his head down and wasn’t aware the game had restarted with a quick throw in. He has to be alert all the time. I see him switch off consistently.
He was also beaten to several headers in the box but because the Brum player didn’t get a good connection, it wasn’t as bad as it could have been against better opposition.

Not singling out McG on his own.
Cannon was fecking anonymous and Rothwell was invisible.

He was our best player on the pitch today.

The fact that the rest of the team were poor is not his fault.

We gave the ball away easily in their half from what I remember (or I was probably dreaming) and they all got caught out of position. Great recovery from Tanganga though.

We have to be fair minded. He’s played two games and been solid in both of them.

On Souttar’s recent displays for Leicester I’m not sure there should be several million between the value of the pair of them at the moment and of course McGuinness is frequently available.

Part of me hopes he can turn it around. It’s the other end of the pitch that looks like it needs most help right now.
