He's a class player is McGoldrick. Ok, he hasn't got the pace, but he more than makes up for it in skill. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen opposition players closing in on him and I'm thinking "Oh no he's gonna get caught out here, someone'll nick the ball off him" but then his touch is so good, he manages to evade them and lays it off to another player.

His attitude impresses me the most though. He came ON TRIAL to us!? On trial. Not only that but he was Ireland's player of the year before retiring to concentrate on his club career.
Even last night Brewster said he had a word with him and gave him plenty of encouragement and advice.

3 games stand out in my McGoldrick memory bank ,his debut ( and Hendersons) at Mansfield ,you could just tell he had quality.
The game at Brighton where he was outstanding but missed probably the biggest sitter of the lot ,we still chanted his name.
The game at Hull where he was unplayable and scored 2 brilliant goals virtually clinching promotion.

Mel Rees would defo be in there for me, in the short spell he was between the sticks, he was brilliant, and the thoughts of what could've been if only he was a well man..............great keeper.

We need a McGoldrick Cam. Heard this as the time another incredible performance. Jebbers, rightingly getting a lot of adulation, but I need a McGoldrick Cam. He was phenomenal last night, particularly on the wing. Regularly jinking out from between 2 or 3 players to release the ball to a Red and White shirt. Situations, where 99 out of 100 players would have lost possession and taken a tumble to try and cover their shame with an attempted foul shout.

Main issue is, for that undeniable talent and show of skill, the TV directors fail to repeat any of the those flourishes. I found myself waiting to see a clip / highlight of McG bamboozling the oppo on numerous occasions, but nothing,

We need a McGoldrick Cam.

I'm hoping that whoever comes in as new boss, McG is not overlooked due to his age.. He will play a huge part in our next season providing he can keep fit. I'm assuming that Slav, or whoever it is, will have researched the squad to a degree that they will already know who is vital and who is deadwood.

Surely whoever comes in will know the players abilities and select what they conside4 the best team for each match.
On that basis it is inconceivable that McG will not play most matches when fit.

Is there any other striker/attacking midfielder that has missed as many clear open chances like McGoldrick has again this evening at St James Pk 7th minute and that golden chance wasted at Stamford Bridge in FA cup game earlier in season. He may be our leading scoring this season but he has to be one of the worst at finishes chances

Absolutely he buries that and we win no doubt , yes he has some lovely touches but as a striker , attacker, forward, attacking midfielder , Christ even a professional footballer he had to hit the target , same against Chelsea in cup those Misses are unforgivable

He's our best outfield player by a mile. He's never been a fox in the box lethal finisher but we need to build a team around him next year, so many of the other players have been awful this season, Norwood, Fleck, Enda, McBurnie, Lunny, Brewster amongst others.

But he is a forward the least u expect is for him to hit the target unmarked from 12 yards he has lovely touches yes he can bring people into play but how often does he cost us points or the chance to earn points it is unforgivable I'm afraid but on here it ,appears to me the mentality here is it's ok that he can't score but it doesn't matter because if he could then he would be playing elsewhere , by the same mentality let's get a manager that can't manager and a winger that can't cross and a defender that can't defend

I agree but if Stevens had passed earlier for McG to run on to he might have scored. As it was the pass was delayed and ended up too close to him to get a decent strike on it.

For clarity and before you get ripped a new one, are you still talking about Mcgoldrick? There's plenty of players to have a pop at if that's your thing but Mcgoldrick isn't one of them. If you want to watch football with few mistakes fuck off to the Etihad.
