Love him and always will.

We play better football when he plays, but he’s a veteran (being polite).

It will break my heart but I do think we’ll need someone to replace him and take on a similar role relativity soon.

Interested to know which players you think we could realistically sign, that would be at least as good as (but younger) or ideally every better than the wonderful Didzy.

MAYBE Freeman deserves a few starts in the exact same position and see what happens.

Fair point. I do think that would have happened by now though, if it’s going to happen at all.

Maybe CWAK just don’t see him in that role.

Ironically I wasn't keen on Freeman signing for us because I predicted he wouldn't get into the team.

CWAK have been glowing about his attitude and kept him in January. Freeman is a CAM really if not a striker and it's been tough on him to have to play CM and even then only occasionally.

Freeman isn’t a striker. Are you suggesting we go 1 up front and 6 in Midfield or are you suggesting we drop one of Fleck, Norwood or Berge/Lundstram?

Nope. Just an option from the bench, or if we ever get 'found out' or for a particular set of circumstances.

Are you suggesting we replace McGoldrick, or get rid of Freeman without replacing him with a similar sort of player?

I’ve spent most of the time that I should have been working over the last few months thinking about this.

Its so bloody hard to find a like for like. You ideally need an absolute unit, with a phenomenal workrate, the touch of a kid that Maradona and Berbatov had with each other, and the defensive nouse of Bobby Moore.

-Eze’s strong and has the touch... but he’s lazy.
-Morelos and Mitrovic are sociopaths.
-Ollie Watkins... maybe, but I’m going to rule him out on the grounds that we can’t have a team of ollie’s

You said that maybe Freeman deserves a few starts in McGoldrick’s position. If that’s case then he’s playing as a Striker and I’m not sure why he’d be a better option than the actual strikers that we have.

I’ve not suggested getting rid of or replacing anyone.

I think we miss McGoldrick when he doesn’t play as we aren’t anywhere near as creative but even if he was fit he’s not going to be around forever so at some point we have to consider a replacement

No worries, all I'm saying is that Freeman could be McGoldrick's replacement. Doesn't mean he should start though.

No point spending money on anyone new unless they are to take one of the first 11's place IMHO, and such a player would cost north of 30 million pounds

Already there and only cost £22M.

Maybe worth a shot .... played well against Palace first home game and was in quite an attacking mode and was involved in the goal if I remember rightly ?

Based on goal this season, neither is McGoldrick. But he’s been very effective.

Mcburnie will be that player. Wins everything in the air but also been linking nicely past couple of games.

Is different to mcgoldrick but similar sort of role

Spot on . Excellent replacement . Same skills , great feet , and would be worth a cheeky ask. Get him in.

So we're looking for a replacement for the future and the best suggestion so far is 6 months younger than mcgoldrick?? Although I do rate lallana unless we're giving up on mcgoldrick it's not one for me

Probably another year or two from affording him but Nicolas Pepe at arsenal has huge potential. Could develop into a phenomenal number 10.

Delofeu is another, David Brooks if he can get fit and Brentford are always worth a raid.

We should try Mousset and McBurnie together for a few games before deciding how much we need to replace McGoldrick with a new signing.

He'll still be good for next season anyway and the goals will come. Maybe not too many goals, but goals nonetheless.

Diving little shits but Harry Wilson and maybe Grealish for the title challenge in a couple of years

I can’t help feeling that Berge will take a more central role once he gets acclimatised. He just looks silky on the ball and I could see him sitting behind the front two dictating play. He’s been useful getting Lunny fired up and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if CW has done this to make a point. If that works out, my guess is we’ll be looking for a finisher in the summer - a younger version of Billy.

McBurnie.

I believe he played a similar role second half, Swansea away. That change 'did us' and I'm sure CW alluded to this post match.

McBurnie was one of my top listed players for us to sign in the summer. Not many players have us up but he stood out in every game against us, even for Barnsley.

Anyway, I reckon McBurnie will take on that role further, given time.

Kind of like Yaya Toure, might even see a situation where maybe Wilder does what Mancini did and bring a defensive midfielder on in the second half for a forward and push Toure forward.
