McDonald injury

Does anyone really think DW is going to come out and say either way whether McDonald is going to play? Its all part of the mind games to keep them guessing. My gut ( and some on here would say substantial gut) feeling is that he is going to be playing, we will know for sure at midday on Sunday.

The real debate should be whether it's Monty or Williamson who gets picked alongside Doyle if McDonald is out.

It would be a huge gamble by Wilson to play Williamson and Doyle in the middle together.
Their only other outing was the 45 minutes against Huddersfield when we conceded 3 goals to a team playing a similar style to Wednesday.
Why would he risk a repeat of that when he has the tried, tested and successful partnership of Monty and Doyle to fall back on?
Williamson should got the nod over Flynn on the right hand side due to his greater height, strength and defensive capabilities.
Even if he's not fully fit, I think we still might see MacDonald on the bench to be risked only if we really need him.

I'd agree with all of that. Every game does not have to be conducted by a central midfield player from a point of game winning passing. If you have overall strength and ability in other areas then have faith in the team. The team has got us to this good position. I wish that some would not discredit the work of others in that team by heaping too much praise on McDonald

To be honest with you Sothall I think we've got a great chance whatever the selection is.

But if we want to keep playing the way we have the last few months, I think the one who would be best suited to do McDonald's role is Williamson.

I don't think many will disagree with that either. Willo is the nearest to that its just we have to be aware of his frequency to injury.

Perhaps start with Willo but bring Monty on the second half if we haven't scored yet.
