McCabe has made a number of huge errors, I have never suggested otherwise, nor, to my knowledge has any other correspondent on here.
Me too. So we actually agree, yeah?
It would be as barmy a suggestion as the proposition that Kevin McCabe has made money out of our club or can ever hope to do so.
Really? So, since he took over in his shifting position as co-Owner/Chairman/Caretaker/Janitor or whatever you are suggesting that Sheffield United has never grossed him personally one raw dollar? Are you
sure about that? Because any self respecting businessman would either flog it as a lossmaker or break the company up and flog off the parts. I'd say he has enough to keep him sleeping at night
within the club. The footballing side is simply chaff. It's a barmy suggestion that one so economically adroit as he (and he's no fucking monkey, is he?) would continue feeding tenners into the shredder simply because he's a Blade.
What we have is a competence issue.
Fuck me. You
have been reading my posts, haven't you?
It doesn't inform that issue to drop snide remarks like "consuming assets" which I assume is a euphemism? It doesn't advance the debate either to ascribe sinister motives to everything he does.
Nothing sinister in alluding McCabe has a tidy sum tied up in multiple facets in and around the club. Nothing sinister in alluding that as long as the season ticket buzzer-bar shots and turnstiles clicking based upon false hopes and dawns are basically sustaining the running of the club and small titbits of players in (let's not mention players out, yet) and emoilent YT appearances which feed the belief that he is 'one of us'. He fucking isn't. In fact, he's nowt like me, and certainly nowt like you Pinchy.
His biggest error of course was to fail to appreciate that Ol' Big Nose was totally out of his depth in the top flight ["I like the Championship, me..."] and sack him in favour of a seasoned Premier League manager.
'Ol big nose'? You mean Neil Warnock, eh? Now who has an issue, huh? Of course, it was a great move sacking him (in actual fact it was a refusal to renew, rather than him getting his P45 and his desk in a black bag) and employing a total dud as his replacement. His personal attributes are the stuff of legend and if you really have been paying attention, you'll know I had someone very much ITK in the first team during that period within my extended family ... and anecdotes are indeed worryingly confirmed. Great choice Kev. Mind you, we've just torn up the rulebook since then, haven't we? No stopping us as we have slid down the ranks to erm ... third from the bottom of the third division in English football.
He compounded that by allowing said Big Nose, at a time when we were ten points clear of danger, to squander his transfer budget on a collection of nonentities rather than bring in one or two players of Premiership quality and experience. That's where your criticism should start.
Well, maybe Warnock 'couldn't get them over the line', eh? I do know at the time that he was (like most managers do) aiming high and was told to go low and spread his bets, so to speak. Hence the seemingly poor return on his signings. Not as though that practice has been repeated though, is it? Oh, erm. Hang on. It has. Almost every fucking season since.
Anyway, you've stated your case (again). What's your solution? Muster in the car park?
Not at all, and I don't think I have suggested that. I counter people's arguments that the problem lies elsewhere and with a systemic approach to fault diagnosis, anyone with any sense would look at components after much of the machine was swapped out and focus on the stuff that has been installed longest by process of elimination. That in this case is McCabe. We all know he's not going anywhere, but hey, there's still 17-20k in BDTBL every other weekend (minus him and the Prince) so why should he worry too much? He employs some poor schmuck out on the touchline to draw the flak and sixteen talent-free hopeless bastards who pull on the colours to do the worrying for him every miserable Saturday.
