The report is a little bit odd. On one hand it says that Sheffield Eagles wouldn't be happy with Scarborough but on the other hand it doesn't really explain why.

Yeah i got the bit about the preferred investor, the Scarborough spokesperson talks of the pitch, so presumably if you've got a pitch and stands it makes sense to build the other facilities. It was more that they didn't state that the Scarborough bid would be detrimental to the Eagles plans than anything else. The Sheffield Eagle's preferred investor wants to build a stand, a bar and other facilities.
McCabe will possibly want to build student flats and Business centres?
What?! McCabe is selling Bramall Lane?!?
I didn't really find the bit that said they were unhappy either. Also note that Steelers owner Tony Smith is looking, there has been a rumour for some time that the Steelers might be coming out of the arena. I can't see him having the clout to finance something that big though unless he has got outside investment.
mccabes probably seen man city ladies ground adjacent to the Etihad and thought well have some of the for when we are in the prem
still prefer knocking down the kop completely first
Why do you say that the Kop cannot be levelled, are there hidden WW2 bombs.Knocking down the kop (and by that, I assume you mean removing the hill it's built on) is not feasable unfortunately.
Our only realistic option is altering the kop in its current form.
total myth , about bombs . in any case best to get rid could go off if we all jump up and down togetherWhy do you say that the Kop cannot be levelled, are there hidden WW2 bombs.
Not feasible?Knocking down the kop (and by that, I assume you mean removing the hill it's built on) is not feasable unfortunately.

I very much doubt it's beyond McCabe to remove that hill it's built on, no matter what might be underneath as regards toxic substances.
No he is using the cash he pocketed from Walker, Murphy and MaGuire deals. Keep upWhat?! McCabe is selling Bramall Lane?!?
The Star is written by fucking morons. You can't expect even a semblance of lucidity from that rag.
Why are the Eagles given any credence over this? They are a non-entity supported by a few hundred fans and 99.9% of the city don't give a hoot about them or rugby league in general. It's about time we moved away from flogging dead horses and if this area is to be redeveloped into a sporting facility it should be to the benefit of a wider audience.
If he'd thought on before they knocked down Don Valley Stadium he'd have pulled a right coup off for himself as well as almost world wide city prestige. most nations are shying away from holding the Commonwealth games because of costs. Therefore the games committee is looking for downsizing to make it more affordable. With most of the facilities wanting little more than an affordable upgrade it was almost ready made for this city until we knocked down the Athletics stadium. Just think of the easy planning applications for accommodation he would have got in return for investing with the council in the games. the prestige of holding the commonwealth games is huge and almost world wide coverage and publicity for himself and the city.
Now Birmingham and Liverpool are getting the chance that could have been nailed on for Sheffield. Short sighted city council again.
As Mark Jackson says it's a 35 acre site and they'd be interested in the wider area beyond anything that has a pitch on it. I think that's Scarborough's interest.McCabe may be a lot of things but he's not a fucking idiot . No one of sound mind let alone any business acumen would touch the Don Valley Stadium with a barge pole . KM's happy ( ish ) pumping his money into one loss making venture already and that's us . And the only reason he's with us in his current capacity is because it's his passion . The Don Valley Stadium was an abomination and a blight on our City . Why would KM want anything at all to do with the financial black hole that was the Don Valley Stadium ?

35 acres is about 25 football fields.
I'd guess that they will try to do a deal whereby their section 106 contribution (the obligation to provide something that benefits the community when doing big developments, usually a requirement to build social housing) is a new stadium for community use. It will be very basic and cheap. As Mark Jackson says it's a 35 acre site and they'd be interested in the wider area beyond anything that has a pitch on it. I think that's Scarborough's interest.
