So the Prince has been talking to colleagues ? Who are they as if its more of the Royal Family then that would be great ? If we were the only club owned by the Saudi Royal Family I guess they woudnt like to be 2nd best to the people who own Man City ?

I can't help but envisage these Saudis running their finger down a list of clubs in which to invest, and eyes with dilated pupils lingering just a split second longer on a club with 2 crossed scimitars as its badge!

.

What a fantastic interview that is with Kevin McCabe.

Fills me with a lot of confidence for the coming season. There is no doubt that McCabe still has fire in his belly, and wants success and promotion as much as any other Blade on this forum.

The lad has made mistakes in the past, as does everyone, but it certainly wasn't for lack of trying on his part. If you're reading this Kevin, thanks for everything you have done and continue to do for Sheffield United Football Club.

'Up The Mighty Blades!'

.

Mcabe sounded to have a bit of a pissed off tone at bits in that interview- possibly from the Ched saga .

Also when asked about the Prince investment said "ask him yourself "

You'd think as his 'partner ' Mcabe would know?

Funny mcabe mentioned the transfer window when he backed Warnock to get us to the PRem but failed to mention the January after when we signed Mahmoud Seck and Luton Shelton!

The colours may appeal as well :D

I think it's should be KM who should think of himself as a lucky lad and not CW.

Too effin right
A Blade doing his dream job who will work for practically bugger all in relative terms,
A man who when told we can't afford such and such understands because he is a Blade and knows full well what a tight arse club it is.

However, McCabe will only be lucky for a certain period of time, if we don't look like pushing on in the next year to 18 months due to the boardroom's 1970's ism, fan or no fan Wilder will go somewhere that will financially support and reward him

It was an impressive list wasn't it, Akinbiyi, Dyer, Flitcroft, Lucketti, Horsfield :)

When asked how our budget compares to our other Championship rivals, he answered "I don't know, I don't go out and study other clubs".

I hope he's not burying his head in the sand and hoping everyone else will just make this season ok, surely he'd want to study other clubs models and emulate the successes of other clubs who've achieved without breaking the bank. Am I being naive to think it's that simple or is he right to not focus on other clubs?

Tin hat on but with all this talk of investment and budgets in the championship, I think it's time for a reminder that last seasons best player, and indeed one of the best to grace BDTBL in many a year, was a free transfer.

That can't be true. You must spend millions on every single player otherwise they're shit.

For example:

Adam Reach - £7m
Jordan Rhodes - £10m

no fee just means more available for wages, bonuses etc that's all, doesn't mean the outgoings are potentially any less.

I wonder what he means by HRHs colleagues?

Is it fresh investment from new parties or old colleagues like sela putting cash in.

That wage structure needs upping if we want to seriously compete in this league.

Decent interview by the sounds of it though.

And many more. Fahti for example. Ol' Big Nose was backed but was completely out of his depth in the Premier League. Kev's mistake was not sacking him immediately we were promoted, as he has admitted since.

For anyone without an agenda, it was an impressive interview. It was reassuring to hear the chairman say that our successes last season were points, goals and quality of play.

Thank Pele he doesn't subscribe to the patent drivel that protests "it doesn't matter how you play". In fact no-one at the club thinks that, only daft supporters.

Agenda-driven drivel, having no basis in fact.

Don't disagree, but as a rule you do have to invest to see a return. Even Brighton spent money, despite reports to the contrary. There's only Huddersfield who did it on a shoestring and that was due to brilliant scouting overseas and management.
Money isn't a surefire success, look at Villa, Wednesday, Derby, Fulham. But then look at Newcastle and Brighton.

I think we have to be sensible. If we wanna do well we have to be prepared with the odd £3mil splash, unfortunately that's seen as spare change in the modern game.
