Mcburnie

Fair enough pal, but I hate watching him play. He's so slow to react and has absolutely no sense of anticipation. His biggest strength is winning the headers in his own penalty box!

He's exactly what we don't need imo. I can't believe Selles would be interested.

We're supposed to be progressing, not regressing.

I’m not bothered about having him back, however, when McBurnie has pace around him he’s a completely different player. Hence why it never worked with Sharp but it did work with NDiaye.

Having Barry, Brooks, One maybe Ukaki will help him. When Mcburnies left to do all the chasing you’re right it’s painful. I think he’ll go to Ipswich personally.

and your objection for us trying to bring in a player who is clearly better (in the same position)than Moore is ..............?
I've said previously on another Mcburnie thread, why are we so obsessed with replacing like for like? One slow dopper for another slow dopper

Any team will want to replace a departing player with a better one(funds permitting).
Irrespective of whether OM played for us previously, are you seriously saying that he isn't a better player than Moore ?

I didn't say that. It's more about the style of player, both very slow in action and thought. Not saying Mcburnie doesn't have his moments, but they're few and far between and I was hoping we'd moved on from this type of signing. People citing his play whilst at Barnsley and Swansea as well, I mean, that's a long time ago. I also hope this is a low financial outlay, because I ain't convinced by his fitness either

Maybe not yet but he's being coached into that role. He's quick, athletic and had a similar playing style to Isak. He has a way to go yet as he needs to start playing regularly and hitting the back of the net regularly. He's 21 now. If he's not playing regularly and showing progress by the end of the season then I think Newcastle will get rid.

Next summer will be full of "We should bring Osula back" threads on here. Why not? There seems to be an endless fixation with former players! 🤣
Osula 22 in 2 days: netted 3 in 58 appearances
Isak @ same age 39 in 87

Gut feeling is this will happen . If we have made an offer must have been some encouragement from him, and having everything agreed for Moore would suggest we are confident something is lined up. Reportedly had the Ipswich offer over a week now and hasn’t yet accepted.

So so disappointed with this. Is he as good as Moore? not really. For example numerous times Moore’s strength fairly won and kept us the ball, Mcburnie is weak and would just revert to giving away fouls and having an argument with the cb or ref. In terms of actually striking the ball I have never seen any attacker as poor as Mcburnie at doing this (honestly watch him it really is something) . Then every header is like a pass back to the keeper. All this before we get to the fact he runs like he’s in treacle, not that all this matters because he’s usually injured or suspended.

But apart from all this — what are your main concerns?

Do you rate Brewster ?

If we sign the player we saw play against us for Barnsley I’m on board. If we sign the lump who played for us and made everything look 10 times harder than it should then no thanks. Hopefully Sellesball means the former.

Gives us an option we don’t currently have?

I do share many of your doubts but as Sellés said we’re currently looking at free/loan options to improve squad so I guess McBurnie will be on that radar.

Flip side being I imagine he’s looking for a big wage on a long contract.

Can't see anything negative in this signing IF his wages are reasonable.

He's only 29 so give him a 2 year deal in the hope that he may have some resell value if we go up this season as I would hope we would replace him in the Prem.

If this is the standard of player we are looking to bring in we can forget about progressing as a team/club , and certainly promotion this season . There , I've said it !! 🤣
What if he's intended to be a squad player and we are looking at a better striker as well? You are only guessing what we intend to do.

Last season:
Kieffer Moore
5 goal involvements for a team in the championship who were top 3 all season and amassed 90 points winning 28 games.

Oli Mac
9 goal involvements for a poor team battling relegation in La Liga who won 8 games all season.

Few years younger, will be on relatively similar wages you'd imagine.
Anyone who doesn't see that McBurnie is a better footballer than Moore shouldn't be taken seriously.

Ol had some awful periods at the lane, like pretty much all players we had over that time. There's just no getting away from that.

We've got a completely new style of play and wouldn't be using him as Jon Parkin MK2 like Wilder used to.

Moore's biggest flaw was his ability to link up play. I don't think I've ever seen a player worse at finding a teammate and his decision making was horrendous.
