Gone Elsewhere Mcburnie

We're going to have this debate every fucking transfer window until he retires now aren't we?

Debate last summer over him re-signing. Debate in January over loaning him in. Debate now over re-signing him again.

We've seen what McBurnie can do at this level. It took having the best player we've had for decades alongside him, for him to hit double figures. Now that we don't have that option to enable him, he'd be an absolute waste of a squad place.

Let's get this done. Don't let him go anywhere else

It's a no brainer

Swapping Moore for McBurnie and making a profit is a dream scenario

It would also be funny to steal Hull's main CF target at the last minute 2 summers in a row

Looks like Wrexham have moved onto other targets, we'd probably need to shift Moore before bringing Oli in.

Campbell yes, but Hardie, Broadhead and (sorry to say) Windass are all better than McBurnie and Cannon. Unless we're judging our strikers on how good they are at heading out corners and scrapping.
Never heard of Broadhead before today but couldn't disagree more on windass and hardie
Who will never fetch a 8 figure transfer fee ever

Not fit or strong enough for us. Previously been poor. Injured too often.

Good at wearing a bucket hat and being one of the lads though and it would mean the kop don't have to dream up another crap song for a striker who's done little to deserve it.

Hard NO from me. We're supposed to be moving forward.

Leave him in the past.

No not for me. McBurnie couldn’t press a pair of trousers never mind an opponent.
Is it all about pressing? Does wearing the defenders down, winning battles with them, retaining possession and, yes, defending set pieces not count for anything?

You don't need the CF to be Matty Done on steroids to be an effective pressing unit

One of the most important attributes is not conceding fouls, which kills the entire press. He's not a good pressing forward.

I'd be more than happy for McBurnie to return. Firstly because he's a decent replacement for Moore and more mobile and secondly just to piss off those that will say they really don't want him back and he's crap but will no doubt still sing "he's our striker" etc when he scores 😂

There's more to the game than pressing, thankfully

And does he actually concede a lot of fouls or is it just a common perception?

Short-term, he's an improvement on Moore. Which is an instant benefit to us.

He was great at leading the press under Hecky. He also massively contributed defensively. But most importantly he could find the back of the net and hold the ball up/ be a target. This system, under Selles, would most likely suit him.

Otherwise, he's bound to score against us home & away and we'll have fans go, "ffs, he was available for free"...

Short Term a Lamp Post would be an improvement on Moore 😂

Always liked mcburnie but I dont see how he fits into a pressing side
If one player isn't at it the whole thing falls down

I was always of a fan of Mcburnie but his injury record would be a big question mark, also considering he has had no pre season, it will take him a good month at least to get up to speed, especially if we are going to play how it would appear we are.

Yes he does.

Well if he's not a goal scorer and not a good fit for the system, I'm not seeing what he can offer, beside some defensive ability on set pieces.

More mobile🤭... that's not a word I associate with Mcburnie 😂

I would take Oli Mac back in a heartbeat, huge upgrade on Moore. He never got the credit he deserved IMO, was a lot better with his feet than some realised and that first season back in the Prem he contributed significantly in both boxes.

The high press under Selles isn't going to work every game, not by a distance and we are going to have to "go long" at times where McB's hold up play is excellent, he certainly wouldn't be passing to opponents like Moore did in the PO final and twice in less than a minute against L1 Burton last week.

True but in comparison to Moore I'd say so. McBurnie is a better link player in my opinion over Moore. I really thought Moore was going to be a good signing but he's not as good as I thought was, maybe age is taking its role. He's not aggressive enough, not dominant enough for his role.

Him & McBurnie needs a new set of legs 👍
