Signing McB as a 6 month foreign loan makes absolutely perfect sense.... anybody thinking different needs there head examining. I wonder who these people think is a realistic option, if not him 🤔.

The thing is that we should have people to find these realistic options, rather than just relying on the contact list in Wilder's phone for scouting

Probably, like you, I don't have the answer to that question as, definitely, like you I'm not a football expert with an encyclopaedic knowledge of just who is available and affordable and would consider coming to United. No one on here does.

Unike you, and quite a few others on here, I'm just not going to seemingly lazily settle and be happy to just regurgitate the same tool that flatters to deceive, slows play down and, in general, makes us less athletic and a less potent team whenever he plays. That's my opinion. I've watched him in a Blades shirt for all the years he was here and was glad when he finally left.

The teams at the top are more fluid, quicker and more potent going forward at the moment than we are. Granted that burnley seem to play more on the counter-attack but the way to get promotion now is, in my opinion, to fucking 'go for it with pace and endeavour' whenever we can, not bring in a useless, slow 'tug boat' that prefers an onn-field fight with his opposing centre half than being positive in front of goal.

I suppose we could trot out the old "well, he's brilliant as a defensive header of the ball". Yes, he is but that's not what our primary need is for a new attacking signing.

Bring McBurney back and give him significant game time and we really don't deserve to do anything but stagnate. He's the (regrettable) past.

It's my opinion, that's all.

I think that's quite unfair on McBurnie and I disagree. But as you say it's your opinion

The trouble we've got is that we need someone in quick and prising a pacey 20.goal a year striker away from a club in the middle of the season, is going to be very difficult without paying massively over the odds,, unless of course the selling club is in serious financial trouble.

If we intend to play slow, negative, shit-housing football for the rest of the season then McBurney is perfect!
I mean, he was fucking crap when he was here, fooled people into thinking he worked harder than he actually ever did with his scruffy, downtrodden appearance, hardly scored or assisted, and spent his fair share of time injured or suspended.
So yeah, what a fucking brilliant 'Sheffield United-type' signing he'd be at this stage. Just what we need to really stand still and stagnate.
God forbid we go for someone with a bit of pace, ambition, and a bit to prove. No, we'll stick to this idiot who, for some reason, is idolised by posters on here for robbing a fucking living from us for years.
Go on, quote me all his huge successes in a blades shirt....how he 'lead the line' so wonderfully for years....how he identified with the fans on social media....we love it, don't we.
Sign this fucking buffoon again and we don't deserve promotion. Rely on him and we certainly won't get it. We already have the laughing stock that is Brewster, we don't need another one to carry.

Mate we aren’t going to get a latte lath in this window, we won’t be looking for anyone with a view they could step up to the prem and doubt we’ll gamble on youth with potential, it’s about players that come in and contribute instantly and help us get over the line, mcburnie is a good addition while in the championship on loan until summer.

McBurnie and BBD looked a fantastic partnership against a Premier League team in this game. It's crazy that people think they wouldn't be effective at this level, or even just improve our threadbare squad significantly.

I don't expect us to sign a 'Latte Lath', pal.
But there's no reason why we can't find another 'Tyrese Campbell' who'll do the job up front and score us some goals until the end of the season. Someone pacy and able to get in a goal scoring position, something McB doesn't do with any frequency. We need a finisher imo.
At the end of the day neither of us knows what we'll be spending but I suspect over the last two game the new owners may well be a fair bit more concerned about failing to achieve a top two place than they were ten days ago. One point and two more serious injuries to key players has given them a real headache. Maybe they'll sanction something a bit more 'adventurous' than a plodding, impotent, brain-dead lump.
I sincerely hope we've moved on mentally as a team from signing this idiot.

I'm not sure McBurnie fills the role Moore does. He's not a target man. We've tried that before. Before we remember how often he was injured.

This is a key point for me. If you play with this system you need someone who:

1. Is not offside all the time.
2. Is not constantly giving away free kicks.

In other words, you need someone who is not constantly giving away possession.

I'm not 100 per cent sold on Moore but he does these things well (yesterday was an exception, granted). McBurnie is very poor in both of these areas.

It didn't work consistently the first time around. Why waste resources in the hope it might go better?

And you can bet your bottom dollar that he will be injured during the run in/playoffs. He's done that 3 out the last 4 seasons.

Find this so frustrating. Watching Leeds, Burnley, Boro and even WBA yesterday with quick attacks running at our defence then our 5 minute build up with very few players in the box drive me bonkers.
How can we be considering re-signing someone who just jogs around the pitch and is always way behind the game play.

His career at Las Palmas went exactly as I predicted, started off ok before fizzling out into nothingness

If we bring McBurnie back I would honestly give up on the notion that we are a forward thinking progressive club.
Totally agree re not signing him but he could be a decent loan until end of season just so we’ve got more than Moore.

Find this frustrating as well. If they’re not British well heeled journeymen in the making they’re not on our radar. I remember the days when I was younger you could name every clubs core team Smith, jones, brown, etc but time have changed, Wilder needs to as well.

Surely we just give him 29 and sing “he’s our striker he’s our 29”
Would be a good move a more technical player than Moore and can drop deep so room for both.
We had him 4 years and I thought he was looking strong and finally able to cope with the physical stuff he gets subjected too.
Very important at corners too as his ability to win defensive headers from corners would be useful now Souttar is gone
He's also fresh as he hasn't played a lot of football ! Bring him in CW he would be more than useful.

Brain dead lump ? It's ok not to rate a player but no need to be offensive to him.

Campbell, nice lad and good player, who will spend most of his time, not doing the job up front but lying on the treatment room bench unfortunately.

Given some of his behaviour and antics over the time he spent employed by the club i don't think "brain dead lump' is too inaccurate and I could have used a lot worse language.

Do you spend your evenings looking out for things to feel offended by? Either way, I'm not at all bothered. Shove your 'faux offence' up your arse.

I don't mind Carlton Palmer's articles in fairness but why is he the dedicated Sheffield United go to for FLW I think it is?

That's the equivalent of John Gannon the other way round!

McBurnie and BBD upfront supported by Hamer, Souza and O’Hare, is lethal at this level, especially after watching all what this division has got to offer. Be crazy to allow OliMac to go to a rival, it would also allow us to get Ryan One out on loan and drive his development.

It depends on what people want McBurnie for.

Is it to score goals or link up play?

For me, McBurnie is great at linking up play, but i dont think hes the best finisher (someome may pop up and prove me wrong with starts and goals).

Fitness is also a massive consideration.

He played loads early season in Spain, but appearences have dropped off.

After half a season in Spain with limited appearences (recently) and shall we say a slower more technical game in Spain, would the hussle and 2 games a week be ideal?

Yes, rotation is good, but in Wilders good times, there is very limited rotation with players and system (why should there be if things are going well).

Would rather sign a striker with pace and power but if he comes alongside BBD we saw the kind of quality they can provide when playing together. Would be a huge boost to bring both in but would likely mean signing a centre back or central midfield player permanently.
