Mcburnie

Far from it.

They want to play the same type of game.

McBurnie would be better with Ndiaye and/or MGW playing off him, as Sharp has done. They are similar type players in that they want to be involved in the build-up and want chances in and around the 6 yard box. Playing him alongside Sharp is counter-productive.

People think (Wilder too) that because he's tall, he's a target man. He's definitely not.

He could partner Brewster well, but not Sharp
Sorry mate definitely deluded nothing personal but FFS

He doesn't though. People are judging him purely on the lack of goals. I could understand it if he was giving the ball away every time it came to him, but he's not.

I get that he's a striker paid to score goals, and they will come the more games he plays.

The problem I see currently is that we are trying to shoehorn him in to build up his fitness and confidence, but it doesn't work alongside Sharp. And unfortunately, we can't drop Sharp.
I don't judge him goals at all, if I did he'd be dead and buried as a footballer. I just look at what he does and I don't see anything at all that he excels at.

It might be because he's not suited to playing with Sharp, but like you say, you can't chance McBurnie + 1 other because Sharp is the only striker who actually strikes.

I'm really at the point where I'd rather see Jebbison get a run of games as I think he's a better option than McBurnie, and I'm not one of these who thinks Jebbison is the 2nd coming either.

8 goals in 80 games, the stats are there for all to see.

Don't get drawn in to stats like that alone.

He's "FEATURED" in 21 games this season, so the stats show he's scored 0 in 21. He's actually completed over 45mins just 6 times this season due to injury. 90mins just 3 times.

Last season he played in one of the WORST EVER teams to grace the Premier League. We scored just 20 goals as a team, but let's blame McBurnie for that.

The season before that when we finished 9th. McBurnie was a regular in the team. Would you like to know who our joint-leading goalscorer in the Premier League was that season?? You know the greatest season in our recent history??

1,330 minutes since his last league goal ~15 games if he'd played 90mins in all those.
1,397 minutes by my calculations but either way there were three injuries and a serious illness breaking that up into four separate spells. Footballers, for the most part, thrive on rhythm and he's not had any chance to build up a head of steam.

I do think he's going to require a significant change in fortunes if he's going to turn the popular opinion around though. His style means he'll never win over the minority of our fans who just don't like him but he needs a goal and he needs one soon.

PH is starting to sound like Fallowfield.
Or is he just a bit more realistic that McBurnie is off form but doing what's asked of him. I'll say it again: all-round, McBurnie was better than Sharp against Millwall. Doesn't mean that he was great but it also shows that even our Billy has off days.

I've never met a United fan that doesn't like him but plenty that don't see what he adds to the team.

He is the main scapegoat right now.

We can rightfully criticize his goals output however he's another that hasn't always had a good run in a team whilst being here.
Bit like Berge was being criticized about 6 weeks ago and now he's being lauded.
A bit like Moussett his best days for us were in the first season and probably pre-covid too.
Even that season he had 24 starts scoring 6.

Last season he struggled with injuries and his 23 apps were mainly off the bench too.
Even this season he's only started 7 matches.
At this level the lad is a good forward, I reckon he will get amongst the goals before the season end and he's not a dead an buried footballer.
Far from it, I wouldn't be surprised that if we got rid in the summer or let his contract run and released next summer we may well see him go do well elsewhere.

We could and I know it might frustrate some to say this, but we could support him rather than slag him off? Afterall he's our player not an oppositions.

See if I was to write that, I would have written this:

I've met loads of United fans who simply don't like him and focus solely on his negatives, than acknowledging the positives.

Add Brewster to that list too. He needed a combination of minutes on the pitch, being played in the centre forward position and a couple of goals to build his confidence right up. Then he got injured and all the fans were gutted.

He might do well elsewhere, he might not. He's had 2 and a half years of support for little return. It might frustrate some to hear this but his wages are currently draining the club, not his fault BTW but we need to move him on this summer to save money and improve the team.

You need to change the United fans you associate with then. I was being honest. The group of lads I've gone to the match with for 30 years have differing opinions of him but I wouldn't say any of them don't like him on a personal level.

Brewster looks like a footballer, McBurnie looks like a new born young foal learning to walk.

Not aimed at you but on this thread alone he's been called "shit, end of" "a total twat" "totally useless" "a negative influence on and off the field...a liability" "McPub", and a "useless cunt". Elsewhere he's repeatedly called "McKnob" or "McShitty". The abuse of a Sheffield United player is getting out of hand.

Until he moves on he'll have my full support whenever he's on the pitch. I'll get frustrated with some of his on-field decisions and I'll applaud other bits of play but it will be constructive.

Agreed. People are OTT on here with the personal abuse. I don't rate him at all regardless of his scoring record at other clubs but while ever he's turning out for us he'll get my support notwithstanding the mutterings under my breath as he gives the ball away again or needlessly fouls for the umpteenth time. I've said before a move would probably be mutually beneficial and may help his career which has clearly stalled here.

0 in 21 sound better??🤣

PH is starting to sound like Fallowfield.

Maybe Fallowfield and Heckingbottom know a lot more about football than the majority of the morons who slag him off

The same people said Berge was useless 2 weeks ago now he is the best player in the world

I just wish he'd try to control the ball in the box more often, last time he tried the ball flew off his shin at 90mph

I'm one of his biggest critics on here. As a player I think he's been absolutely woeful for us.

As a bloke, he's someone I'd have knocked about with when I was younger (I'm 32 now and left those characters behind as much as possible).

He seems a loveable tit, bit of a liability. Bit dumb, but harmless (except to himself).
I don't like his laid back attitude to his profession, because the club I support has paid a lot of money for him to be a professional and I don't think he's returned on that value, or (more importantly) tried hard enough to.

He’s just poo poo

The one time we had money to spend and we checked away.

I was putting the shopping trolley back at Tesco in Market Rasen this afternoon, when the pound coin jumped out of its slot, onto the ground. As I tried to trap it underfoot, I only succeeded in booting it further down the concourse, much to the amusement of Mrs Bon II. 'It's like Oli McBurnie trying to trap it' I casually commented, just as a lanky youth in a white baseball cap wandered past. He turned around grinning and said 'You're not wrong there mate' and sauntered off into the distance while I retrieved my quid. Was it anyone off here, I wonder?

You can say what you like about mcburnie never scoring or doing anything when he's on the pitch but if you actually analyse the 5 key attributes for a modern day striker....... Mcburnie is better than sharp:

Finishing: sharp - 9 Mcb - 1
Heading: sharp 6 Mcb - 2
Assists: sharp: 8 Mcb 2
Drink driving: sharp 0 Mcb 10
Looking like a member of goldie looking chain: Sharp 0 Mcb 10

Overall: sharp 23 McBurnie 25

I hope he scores tomorrow to be honest then the minority me included can celebrate it only takes one goal, 👍
