For us to bring in any striker they have to be better than Moore and Cannon( based on what we have seen from him so far). Whilst not ideal McBurnie is streets ahead of both of them

If one or both of them is being moved and Oli is coming as an option on the bench then fine … but there is far too many moving parts for that to be worthwhile.

Cleared a fair few off the line as well. He always put a shift in, just went through hot and cold spells in front of goal

Apart from 2021-22 (when he only played 1,000 minutes) McBurnie has been a consistent goalscorer every season he's played in the Championship.

He's not there to just score goals though is he, that's not how we played him, unless you are re-writing history to suit a narrative?
He was the joint top scorer in our last PL season, which with 6 goals isn't anything special but it tells you how little we were creating for anyone else and his 22/23 scoring record would have made him our clear top scorer last season.

These are the facts. You don't want him back which is a fair opinion, it doesn't change anything I've said about if it's available he should be under consideration.

The combination of becoming a father and spending a year outside of England might have sorted his lifestyle issues out. The question is, if he returns does he regress back to type?

I'm not necessarily against bringing former players back, unlike some who seem to think it's the root of all evil. I do however, think we should only do it on occasions when the player was actually any good the first time around.

Yes, he had a purple patch for 6 months or so out of his 5 years at the club, but he had Iliman Ndiaye at the side of him and he was 2-3 years younger.

And the Spanish game is different to Championship football. He struggled for fitness with us. Would his body stand up to playing twice a week? Or would we have another player who we can't rely on?
