I think it's a bit harsh to critiscise Blackwell too much yes he has made mistakes but on the whole he has been good for the club, don't forget which way we were heading when he took over from Robson. That season we went from just above the bottom 3 to the brink of a play off spot. This season he took us to the brink of automatic promotion and had a play off spot nailed down weeks before the end of the season despite having to sell our 3 best strikers. Todays team says it all really, look at the options two strikers brought in on loan thats if you can call C Beattie a striker and a player from league two. Any one of James Beattie, Rob Hulse or Jonathan Stead would surely walk into that side out there today.
If Blackwell walks away or is pushed then he goes with my best wishes he has done his best but it wasn't quite good enough, let Gary Speed have a crack at the job if he wants it, that would be one more of Robsons dads army off the wage bill while just keeping the treatment table warm. But for me the problem lies much deeper than with the manager, we still have a chairman who despite owning a club that is the best supprted in this league refuses to back the manager with a bit of cash to. take a small gamble and actually give it a proper go.

BIG CITY club with a small club losing mentality. :o:o:o:o:o

Hi iv been avoiding posting until we played the last game thinking i could jinx us oh well that didn’t work

Blackwell’s done well this season a whisker from auto spot and crashed and burned in the final but There is a few problems with Blackwell manager style

He can’t attract big names

man managment
he’s too stubborn seems not to pick players who we all know can play (cotts etc) as he’s the BOSS then insists on playing players that most fans don’t think are good enough or are in a bit of a bad run of form. Seems to rub some player up the wrong way.

His tactics seem one dimensional
his Arial bombardment tactic will work now and then but by the end of the season every one knows what your going to do, and when players on rare occasion do get to the edge of the box with ball at feet looks like they don’t know what to do with it.

substitutions
he seems incapable of assessing the situation on the pitch how many times have we all seen him leave some one who's having an off game and sub some one else off who’s not playing bad at all and by the time he makes the change were facing a up hill battle.

Defensively he’s been a great manager but attacking not sure he really knows what to do.

Now considering our finishing position I think he’s done a great job if he stays I think he needs an attacking minded assistant to help him out

if he goes I wish him the best of look but I believe there are a lot of better managers out there that could do a job at Sheff U

Go on then, name some managers who would have done a better job than Blackwell in the time he has been here?

i can name some who could have done the same easy. we didnt have a bad team just a team at sea due to robson what we needed was stability and blackwell did that.

for a short fix get a long ball manager they can play with any team.

like i said blackwell has done a good job

but are you tryng to tell me we cant get any one better than blackwell?

Gutted about the result but well done Burnley. It was obvious as soon as we went a goal down that we would struggle to get back to level terms. We just dont seem to be able to score or create enough chances when it matters. We were lucky to finally score against Preston for example, even though we had loads of possession we didnt do anything with it. Its the same old problems that haunt us. Yes Monty had a good game, but were was the creativity. We have the players in howard, cotts, hendrie, halford but not the inspiraton or the manager who can unlock the players & give them the confidence to express themselves when it matters. To often we are found to be lacking when it matters. I feel for Blackwell but he doesnt have the nous to be able to push the players that extra 5% or have the answers tactically when things arnt going to plan. Next season will interesting. Up The Blades!

Just got back. Gutted but not as gutted as in 2003 or indeed after the Wigan game in 2007. I'm getting use to it and didn't get my hopes up before today.

Yes agreed ipswich blade at 03 and 07 there were loads of people crying but at this game there was not- maybe everyone just knows now that we always mess up

Yes. You get use to it after a while and although it still hurts, I'll get over it quickly and look forward to next season.
