I think it's a bit harsh to critiscise Blackwell too much yes he has made mistakes but on the whole he has been good for the club, don't forget which way we were heading when he took over from Robson. That season we went from just above the bottom 3 to the brink of a play off spot. This season he took us to the brink of automatic promotion and had a play off spot nailed down weeks before the end of the season despite having to sell our 3 best strikers. Todays team says it all really, look at the options two strikers brought in on loan thats if you can call C Beattie a striker and a player from league two. Any one of James Beattie, Rob Hulse or Jonathan Stead would surely walk into that side out there today.
If Blackwell walks away or is pushed then he goes with my best wishes he has done his best but it wasn't quite good enough, let Gary Speed have a crack at the job if he wants it, that would be one more of Robsons dads army off the wage bill while just keeping the treatment table warm. But for me the problem lies much deeper than with the manager, we still have a chairman who despite owning a club that is the best supprted in this league refuses to back the manager with a bit of cash to. take a small gamble and actually give it a proper go.
BIG CITY club with a small club losing mentality.
