26 years ago yesterday.. I thought this was a really good game but there was no stopping Steve Bull in his day..

Who else remembers this game and who went down?

me me me :)

Night match

I remember fk all about the game tho

Think they only had the 3 stands built at that time

I can remember after the game being clapped by the Wolves fans who were congregated along the roadsides as we left in droves of coaches

Were we winning, then losing and nicked the draw, or have I got that completely arse over tit?

Was it the one we were winning 2-0 and some bloke called DeWoolf with long hair and completely OTT aggressive got away with murder all game and ended up scoring when he shouldn't have been on the pitch?

I rang Radio Wolves or whatever that night to complain about the referee and tell them how lucky they were. They didn't understand!!

Maybe that was another day as I seem to think it was daytime.

Bloody hell. It's got us scoring from one of those short corners we used to try all the time, and no-one ever picked up on. Our worst/best kept secret.

That was an away game where we were 2-0 up and De-Wolf scored in the 90th minute with a pen. Two minutes of injury time to survive, and Emblen scrambled an equaliser

I was there. Thats about all I remember.

:)

UTB

I remember listening on the radio as a kid. In particular the United players mistaking a late whistle calling a foul for full time.

The commentator went nuts as half United's team buggered off to the celebrate leaving Wolves a golden chance to score a winner. He was almost shouting at them to get back. :)

I were there and remember the players throwing the shirts into the crowd after the game. I think one of my mates ended up with duffield's shirt after a tug o war with a fellow blade for about 20 mins. Happy days:cool:

Weren't we sharing a vast Kop with the Wolves lot? I remember being down the right hand side with a chain link fence running from top to bottom next to us, all but one stand virtually derelict, including the one we were on - didn't the fence keep us off an overgrown cinder bank?

I admired Bull's utterly direct approach, it was as impressively different from the run of the mill way of playing football then as it is now. As unique was his relatively selfless loyalty to Wolves.

droit au but.....is that the OM motto? - it could have been Steve Bull's too.

Biggest memory from the Wolves game that just about guaranteed promotion was deep in injury time when the ref blew his whistle for a free kick. Whereupon our left back Martin Pike, believing he'd blown for full time, was scaling the fence to celebrate with Blades fans, before hastily realising he needed to be in the area to defend the free kick.

We were indeed sharing a massive Kop with a chain link fence between us. Loads of the Wolves fans were flobbing at our fans through the fence.
I remember the Wolves fans after the game clapping us on our coaches cos we both got promoted.

I was there, my parents whipped me out of school early on the pretence of a dentist visit or something.... Was stood on the terrace behind the the goal. Still remember nearly having my heart failure when the players celebrated the award of a wolves free kick thinking it was the final whistle....

Lots of inflatable blades there. Some fuc*er stubbed their cig out on mine at Northampton. Amazing atmosphere at that Wolves game.

I was at that game. Went 1 nil down then 2-1 up and Wolves equalised with about 15-20 minutes left (if memory serves). Given that they needed a draw to clinch the title and we needed a draw to go up, the last 10 minutes was like watching the chuckle brothers - "to me, to you" with both teams happy with the draw. Also remember Pikeys premature celebration and both sets of fans celebrating at the final whistle.

Great night, even if my car did get broken into and I had to drive home with no windscreen.
The short corner routine was brilliant and worked several times that season.
Two sides of the ground in darkness, a main stand about 100 yards from the pitch with everyone else on the Kop, and the first time I head the Greasy Chip Butty Song. A
And a result that kept everyone happy.

Me too Handy.

I'd take issue with the word "hastily" though. My memory seems to have the daft bugger cavorting around behind the goal with, more or less, the entire away end yelling at him to get back on the pitch.

My mate Phil Partridge who sadly died a few years ago ,managed to get Brian Deanes ,it smelled awful but he wouldn't wash it :)

Some video (no commentary and peculiar editing) here

I'm as much of a supporter of bringing back terracing as anyone else, but would be still be playing in the same sh*thole stadia like Molineux was if it weren't for being forced to change to all-seating?

Molyneux was a right mess , we were on half an uncovered end that had had the roof enoved , and both got to sing we re gunna win the league as both took the lead, but settled for were going up , only time I can recall being in such a joyous atmosphere with both sides celebrating

Yeah I was there. I went with a Wolves fan from work and sat with him in the Wolves stand. I was young and gobby and therefore nearly got slapped many times throughout the game

Remember being at Wolves behind the goal, their kop shared between home fans and us. Seem to remember we won that one, may have been before 1989 ?
