26 years ago yesterday.. I thought this was a really good game but there was no stopping Steve Bull in his day..
Who else remembers this game and who went down?
Some video (no commentary and peculiar editing) here
I remember a game at the lane when we went 2-0 up and they came back for a draw , think they had just got promoted . Think that was a day game , satdi match .Was it the one we were winning 2-0 and some bloke called DeWoolf with long hair and completely OTT aggressive got away with murder all game and ended up scoring when he shouldn't have been on the pitch?
I rang Radio Wolves or whatever that night to complain about the referee and tell them how lucky they were. They didn't understand!!
Maybe that was another day as I seem to think it was daytime.

We were indeed sharing a massive Kop with a chain link fence between us. Loads of the Wolves fans were flobbing at our fans through the fence.Weren't we sharing a vast Kop with the Wolves lot? I remember being down the right hand side with a chain link fence running from top to bottom next to us, all but one stand virtually derelict, including the one we were on - didn't the fence keep us off an overgrown cinder bank?
I admired Bull's utterly direct approach, it was as impressively different from the run of the mill way of playing football then as it is now. As unique was his relatively selfless loyalty to Wolves.
droit au but.....is that the OM motto? - it could have been Steve Bull's too.
Biggest memory from the Wolves game that just about guaranteed promotion was deep in injury time when the ref blew his whistle for a free kick. Whereupon our left back Martin Pike, believing he'd blown for full time, was scaling the fence to celebrate with Blades fans, before hastily realising he needed to be in the area to defend the free kick.
My mate Phil Partridge who sadly died a few years ago ,managed to get Brian Deanes ,it smelled awful but he wouldn't wash itI were there and remember the players throwing the shirts into the crowd after the game. I think one of my mates ended up with duffield's shirt after a tug o war with a fellow blade for about 20 mins. Happy days![]()

Alan Roberts was number 7 that night. He created our equaliser.Anyone with a programme/good memory remember who wore No.7 that day? Silent Blade perhaps?
