Gone Elsewhere Matty Cash

Forest doing what Cardiff did and holding out for big bucks... we therefore throw the kitchen sink at bringing in a right back.
As we all discussed back then - This ‘could’ be at the detriment of the remainder transfer budget (when other areas of the team require improvement/strengthening).
*For the record I’m not saying Cash is not a great signing or prospect, I just hope the board allow CW the additional funds for the whole squad to be stronger, as we keep being told Covid has impacted on our transfer planning.

I don't buy that we are still bringing in 170m on top of last years

I dipped on to forest forum they really are deluded 20 m for him. they say we are above our station
We're above our station?
We bought a striker for £7m, loaned him to a Championship team, he played well and got them promoted... and they offer us £4m to keep him.

Lunny is a young, English, goal scoring midfielder that's had a good season in the Premiership. Sounds like he'd cost around £10m right? We will be lucky to get £4m for him.

He wouldn't be cover for George, he'd be a different option. Baldock's strength is his defensive attributes and his energy to get up and down the flank. George's weakness is his chance creation. Therefore Baldock plays when we play the "bigger" teams who have more possession and we spend more time defending. Cash would play when we're up against the "weaker" teams when the onus will be on us to break them down and unlock their defence. It's going to be a very long congested season next year and we'll need options available to allow us to rotate the squad. Particularly the wing backs, who are integral to our system of play and probably most at risk of burnout due to the high energy levels the position demands.

I thought he was ok last year so wouldn’t mind keeping him

I didn’t rate him. I know a lot did, but I just thought he looked clumsy in possession and iffy defensively. I know he’s only back up for O’Connell, and I’m not comparing the two, because they’re worlds apart, but he just didn’t give me any confidence at all. His long-throw was quite useful and offered something we haven’t had for a while, however.

Villa are relegation fodder. Especially if Grealish goes. Full of players they seem to rate yet nobody else does. If they were so shit hot like Mings why did they ship so many goals?

There's a pattern here. We're an exciting proposition, good football, on the global stage last year. We're staying true to our model, spend within our means on emerging talents.

But, Villa and Fulham fuck it up by pinching our shopping list and spunking money.

I'd like Cash here, but if not I'll not be overly bothered; especially if it effects our ability to recruit elsewhere. The amounts quoted are bonkers for us to spend when we have George having done so well last season. Chuck 5million at a backup youngster instead.

I've always preferred the option of Connor Roberts but that seems to have gone quiet

Problem is can George, Edna, Bash have the same relatively injury free season and be at the same or better standard as last season.
Don't get me wrong they all deserve their chance to do so, but we have no one really challenging them for those positions and putting pressure on them.
I don't tend to watch other sides much or notice their players when they play us, but Cash is the first player I have ever seen have 100% positive comments about him on the forum of the club they currently play for when there is speculation that they will leave. Now I know this not the technical way too judge a player but I do think it gives a good indication of how good he is.
Not sure I would spend 16 million on him though.

I get your point, Bash im not worried about, Mr Sheffield United he wouldnt let his standards drop. We saw Enda drop off post lockdown, something about me wonders if that was due to him knowing Osborn and Robinson would be playing instead of Fleck and JOC so was unchallenged. Baldock is the odd one out, we need a right back 100% because if theres any injuries, touch wood, we are struggling but will find it difficult to iprove on him for our budget but need someone good enough to slot in seamlessly if needed
