Chaps,

Seems he might be heading from Blackpool to BDTBL until Jan. From what I remember, he was a half decent winger/forward in the Prem. Plenty of pace to boot.

Yup, we've got him.

Blades boss Wilson cuts loan deal for Blackpool ace Phillips

Danny Wilson has moved to bolster Sheffield United's promotion push by setting up a loan deal for Blackpool midfielder Matt Phillips.

Concerned by a recent dip in form, the United boss has earmarked Phillips' attacking flair as the ideal remedy and hopes to confirm the temporary transfer later today.

Sportsmail understands the 20-year old winger will join the League One promotion hopefuls until January and could be in line for a high-profile debut in Sunday's eagerly-awaited Steel City derby against Sheffield Wednesday at Bramall Lane.

Loan star: Blackpool's Matt Phillips is set to join the Blades on loan from Blackpool

Wilson hopes the signing will breathe new life into his side's promotion prospects after they remained unbeaten in League One until the middle of September, then lost three of their next four games.

He believes the aquisition of Phillips could prove a significant coup, after Ian Holloway paid Wycombe an initial £350,000, rising to £700,000, for the pacey outside-right just over a year ago.

'Either way, he's got all the attributes to go to the very top.'

Promising: Phillips has been backed to reach the top

Blackpool suffered an agonising last-day relegation from the Premier League, and Wilson sensed his opportunity to make an approach for Phillips after he was restricted to just two starts for Holloway's side in the opening couple of months of this season.

That report has been doing the rounds since 9:43 yesterday. No confirmation on the official site yet.
There's plenty of time for a fax machine malfunction before Sunday.

Yup, the lack of any more info. sounds like another fuck up.

Err some tips for you:

1. click on the little clock in the bottom right of your computer and bring up your calandar

2. Start from tomorrow and count to 93 (this may take you a long time but don't worry).

3. See what date you get to.

4. Take a look at the fixture list and match this date.

5. You may now understand why the signing won't be until tomorrow.

that is from today. tomorrow takes us to the sunday 15th jan

Seems that we only have him for 28 days or something:-

“I’ve told Danny Wilson (Sheffield United boss) he can have them for 28 days and if it goes well I’ll get my blokes flying back.

“Clarke and Phillips are 23 and 20 and I feel they will be very exciting for this club. They are still learning.''

Once it takes us into Jan then the window is open, If we really want them then we can sign them then (or is DW going back on what he said about loans)

Doesn't quite work using 28 days from today though

I think its actually a one month loan isn't it - not that it will make much difference at 12th Nov is FA Cup game and they would not be eligible. Still allows the option to extend the loan through to the Bury game in January even if we have no chance of signing permanently.
