How much did we sign him for? Also he must be on a long contract.

Interest is unsurprising. Same as Murphy.

What will be surprising is if we manage to keep hold of them both. We really need to keep these 2 to have any chance of Auto and the board should realise this when considering ANY bids under £1m (Done) and £1.5m (Murph)

There must be an issue somewhere if true unless moneybags Wigan plan to make us an offer we can't refuse.

Fee to us was undisclosed but rumoured to be £400-600K.

It would be a strange move for all concerned if it happens.

Unless Adkins is already familiar with Done, once he's familiarised himself with Done's capabilities - there's no one else like him at United - Adkins will realise what a gem he has in MD. All Adkins needs to do is find the right player to play alongside Done and add that elusive chemistry to a dynamic forward pairing. Done was a great buy for this club, well done Clough for making that possible. Now it's down to Adkins to see what he has in Done and get the best out of the player.

Lets not jump to conclusions. In the past an offer for one of our players inevitably meant they was on their way out.

I don't think Adkins would have joined us if Jim and the team turned around and said we will be selling our two best players Murphy and Done is that ok? Bringing Adkins in is a massive statement of intent as far as I'm concerned.

Why invest money in a big name manager to then go and sell all the best players immediately.

I have a possible feeling this might be a stab in the dark rumour with no real grounding other than a passing comment. Sky aren't as gospel as they'd make you believe, they are good at hyping insignificant sporting fixtures or events i.e. STOKE VS WEST BROM THIS MONDAY!! BATTLE OF THE MIDLANDS!! etc. etc.

I lost my trust in Sky when they reported a deal was all but done for Gareth Barry to sign for Liverpool......prompting me to put a sizeable bet on this rumour - Next thing I know he's at City

This could be the first opportunity of this season for the Board to actually stand up, show they have balls and impress the fans.

IF we are going to bring in better, proven, more talented players than these two BEFORE they are sold, and IF we demand a fee which is well above their asking price eg £2.5 million for Murphy and £2 million for Done then I shall give the board the thumbs up !!

However, we all know what our board are like .........

Really ought to avoid selling players to a promotion rival. Can see it going down very badly with supporters which makes it seem unlikely.

Personally I would be more upset to see Matty Done go than Jamie Murphy.
I would be really pissed off if any of the two leave. We would really struggle to get players of a similar standard for League one and it would set us back yet again. We can ill afford this mate.

Mind games by Wigan already. Tell em to feck off.

We won't sell Done like we did Harry Maguire or Kevin McDonald would we, would we? Nah, tell em to feck off

Yep I think it is mind games too. Is someone at work trying to unsettle our best players before a ball has been kicked, or do clubs know our board have no backbone and are a soft touch.

My take on this is that any club will get interest for its best players. In our case the board have invested heavily in sacking Clough and his back room staff ( paying compensation ) , and replacing him with a top quality manager.

IMO the only players that will be leaving the lane , are the ones who do not fit into the managers tactical plans , ideology , or the ones who have a negative influence , in the dressing room.

Money offered for a player , whether we like it or not ,is a key issue , but i feel it would have to be a obscene amount for the board / manager to consider / accept , for any player who is part of the first team plans for this season.

Speaking of which, has Kane completed his move to Man United yet?

I agree and even at those prices I'd say we still shouldn't sell our best players. We got the money in for Maguire but what good did it do us when we were unable to replace him with a comparable central defender? OK in his case he really wanted to go, but arguably it cost us promotion. Murphy and Done are proven talents.
