Coops is a top top keeper and will only improve. We have to turn down anything less that 20m this year, but next year will be different with no failure payments left. If Coops goes anywhere this season the club had better have a like for like replacement lined up.

I think it would go some way to giving the fans some confidence going into next season

Fanny fans wouldn’t change regardless they’d still say we’re bound to sell him.
Just like Everton, they surprisingly put out interest via Nixon funnily enough, when they have been trying to tie down a deal with their initial target. A subset of our fans go into blind panic. “We’ll definitely sell, the new owners don’t know what they’re doing, they’re skint, they’ll accept the first offer” etc etc. Suddenly the issues getting the deal done somehow disappear and Everton made the signing.
Fast forward a couple of weeks, West Ham have been wanting a keeper and have been strongly linked with a player but it’s not done yet story appears via Nixon that they want Cooper. Fans dont learn anything from last time and go into blind panic.

What makes you think the club saying anything would change this completely illogical cyclical behaviour?

Fortunately you have nothing to do with our transfers as Johansson isn’t even close to Cooper. Hence why we let him go to Stoke and signed Cooper instead.

How do you know he isn't a good coach ?. He can only coach the players he is given.

I understand some of the knee jerk hyperbole, but he was brilliant for Rotherham and Stoke. Made outstanding saves and has a high save % in front of some VERY shaky defences.

No, but a keeper doesn't have any ability to reduce the number of shots conceded. That's the job of the forwards, midfield and defence.

Trafford probably wouldn't have had an 81% save ratio with the Stoke team.in front of him. Johansson would probably have had a higher save % ratio with the Burnley team in front of him.

Dont have to take offence and be sarcastic, ee can have a differemce of opinion. We both know that there's more to the game than stats. VJ has won either players player or fans player of the year for the last 3 seasons.

If the players he is coaching are so substandard, then he should be strongly be getting shut of them. If we had a "modern" structure in the club including a Director of Football then Duke would have more experienced support from above to clear them out and get in a higher standard of keeper. It also questions how good is our present recruitment team?
