We absolutely need experience and everyone pretending we are fully of old heads is ignoring we are actually one of the younger squads the last two years and especially last year that lack of experience and know-how was a weak point

All grown-ups with plenty of experience. What a lot of them are is below average Championship players.

A genuinely woeful signing and an indication of the slide we're on in terms of quality.

One of the slowest full backs I've seen and that was before he spent the majority of last season injured.

Starting to fear for this season already if this is the quality we're getting.

Thats 12 players. We had a much bigger squad too big imo. 2 of those with longish injuries and two picked up on a free mid season and one couldn't last 99 minutes The others have gone ( assuming rnd is on trial somewhere?)

Ogbene, Phillips, Hjelde, Hoever. Plus Arblaster, Peck, Brooks, Seriki who weren't complete novices. Adding bit part, mid 30s lads to this group is fine. It just won't change much

I would argue the lack of experience showed in almost all these players. Whilst it's an extreme example look at the Argentina shithousery from tried and tested pros getting a pretty poor side through some narrow scrapes at times. That's what this side lacked last year where we just had no fight about us after the start of the season absolutely left us on the floor. We had one good spell mid season but their heads soon dropped again.

What we really need is some pace and athleticism throughout the spine of the team.

Yes every squad needs some experience but we are desperately short of athletes capable of completing 90 minutes 40+ times in a season.

We’ve got enough older players who are injured for half the season and are blowing out their arse 60 minutes in just cos ‘experience’

Another old fart. Really disappointing. I know we need a backup to Seriki but Doherty is not the man. I’m fine for Wilder to want experience, but that doesn’t mean injury prone and expensive. I’d rather a Cranie, Stearman esque player.

I think you are vastly overestimating how much falling over at the right time and pulling shirts can cover being smaller, slower and weaker than the opposition.

It's not a terrible signing. But I don't think it changes anything. If he can only play RB, every minute he's on the pitch, Seriki isn't which removes a true attacking outlet from a side that doesn't have many.

He's back up right back to exactly what you say, and I agree, is a key asset. Out of all the names linked, if he's not washed up completely, he's probably the best a non parachute club can realistically expect as back up!

Unfortunately the money has dried up and some people need to reset expectations I think.

How many, especially wing back type players, can do 90 every championship game?! Very few. A old pro to see out wins is vastly more preferable than say a Gilchrist who was obviously much younger. Seems to recall we did okay that year though and he played a fair bit. I would say Doherty a much better player.
