You’ve got a midfield of three lads out the academy set up of which one is coming back from a career threatening injury.

A lone striker lacking confidence and hardly setting the world alight after a big money move.

And a CB fresh back from a 3 game ban.

Given that I will let the first half slide as we had no risk takers everyone played safe and secure clearly still finding confidence and their feet.

Second half was much more front foot and it showed much the better team.

Like others have said will need to be at it from minute 1 in the next game.

Agree with this. It always takes time to break down well-organised teams who come to sit in - and often it’s not pretty. We weren’t great, but we were patient, kept probing, and eventually found the openings we needed to score three very well-taken goals.

Exactly. And some in here can't see that and think we were poor and suddenly came good.
It was our constant probing that wore them down. Plus after getting our first goal pushing them to just one point, they were less able to just sit in.
Maybe we could have passed faster first half, to break past them before they got reset. But that's here nor there really. Another 3 goals, consigning another team to the steamroller.

It’s was a tactical game, as Oxford came to frustrate and defend, can’t blame them really. As a couple of Oxford supporters said on a night like last night! 26000 + fans, they can only dream. Credit to their fans for making the journey and their commitment.
Do think the reliance on Brooks and Serick was obvious yesterday and teams like Boro will be better at negating their movement. Confuse by using both wings, will spread the opposition.

What amazes me is, all season, people have been criticizing Wilder for poor substitute decisions in the 2nd half, whilst also saying we couldn't keep or defend a lead. Yesterday was the opposite with us starting off poorly/slowly, and then vastly improving, and they hammer again anyway!

What us punters want is for our lads to hammer teams like other teams did to us for first half of the season. Playing safe and rotating back to Coops is a recipe for disaster as is passing along the same width of pitch. It's also boring as hell. We're not Man City who can rotate quickly, we are the Blades who if we are playing as slow as we can do then someone's going to mess up and then we're chasing the game. Lesser teams want spanking to give our lads the confidence to wipe the floor with all the teams we have to play in this fantastic league especially them from S6. It would also lift the crowd and send us punters buzzing till the next encounter. Upwards & onwards UTB.
