Well after the disappointing result against Birmingham City on Wednesday, we have a chance to put it immediately right against struggling Preston. And with it a chance to go 3rd in the table, other results permitting. Not sure if squad rotation is necessary just yet, but I think I'd prefer a team more closeley resembling that of the starting line-up v Villa....

Anyway...

Any team news? :)

Surely Sharp has to be a starter?

Don't know what else to suggest.

Quite a brief introduction to this one, half pissed from last night. However hopefully the Blades are not as hungover as me, and we put this one to bed 3-1.

We need Freeman back
We need Sharp to start
We need "MOTM Norwood" to play
We to keep being strong at the back
We need Duffy to be on form
We need a confident Clarke
And we need to get behind the boys!

2-0 to the Blades!

We really need to win this one. Preston have had a (surprisingly) bad start and are there for the taking.

I'd go:

Henderson,Stevens (I assume Johnson not up for 2 starts in 3 days), O'Connell, Egan, Bash, Freeman (if fit), Fleck, Norwood, Woodburn (doubt Duffy up for 3 games in a week), Sharp, McGoldrick

Also, head the traffic warnings. It has taken me 25 minutes from Woodseats to the Cremorne on a bus.

Looks good I'd have Duffy to come on for last 30 minutes (think it was Ricky who suggested him second half to change the way we play) unless we are spanking them without let up. Might need Norwood off if he's still sub par (tired).
Or Fleck for Duffy and Basham(/Lundstram) midfield, if Bash -Stearman in defence.

The “Elephant in the room” that is Leon Clarke would have been Room 101d by the vast majority of Championship managers by now. Lampard has £5m + Waghorn on the bench !!!

Not contributing AND not scoring is quite simply unacceptable, and has the potential, given Wilders clear and obvious blind spot, to derail our season.

Sharp and McG for me.

Wilder will go with Clarke !!

21 days ago we played better than any United team in years and thrashed a good team 4-1.

In the next home game, for some inexplicable reason, 4 of the players that played so well in that first half do not start. We are poor and draw 0-0, Baffling.

Let's have The team from Villa again and stop messing about for the sake of it.

I think it is harsh to say that he isn't contributing. He is still working his nuts off and involved in a lot of decent build up. Christ does he need a goal though.
Agree on starting Sharp and McG.

I think it’s important that we start with proper urgency and tempo today. When we do, we’re so often better for the full 90 mins than when we don’t. I kind of knew, I think, after the first 10 mins on Wednesday night, that we were going to have a ropey evening.

Start slow, and it can be hard to pick it up. We are so much better when we move the ball quickly from the off. Here’s hoping for this aft.

UTMB, and FTP. :)

Usual daft optimism. Be loysing agean.

Let’s have another “Villa” performance then please. COYRRW

As i saying on Roy view from. we have to win this because they for the taking & you have to win these games if we are looking at the play offs. but the 3 games we had last season weren't classics bit like birmingham they were all 1-0 2 to Preston & 1 to us in fa cup

But i feel confident at getting the 3 pts. Hopefully if we do complete opposite of 2nd half. But the soccer saturday unnerved me because they had stat saying preston havent won in 7 & have the worst defence in the championship. Just thought oh here we go

I'd hoped that Clarke would have been in there instead of Mcgoldrick but in Wilder i trust.
And Norwood Fleck and either Duffs or Johnson in midfield.
The back 3 speak for themselves and wing-backs.

COME ON BLADES 3 HUGE POINTS NEEDED AFTER THE BIRMINGHAM DIBARCLE. BUT THAT'S FOOTBALL.

You just don't take off your top goalscorer when winning and replace him with a midfielder.

You give the impetus to the opposition immediately.

Amateurish

Played brilliantly, then couldn't get the ball for 20 minutes or so, then started hoofing, then remembered we could play and got the winner.

Made hard work of that. Got the 3 points though, 2 points off top.

I don't know what to do are we celebrating, shoes off, rumble behind Argos if it's still there? Somebody tell me what to do!

Doesn't it depend a teeny bit on what the top scorer is actually doing on the pitch during the game?

Bet bums were twitching at 2-2, but when you get results like the pigs and Birmingham have had today, you’ve got to think that’s a great result. As bad as Preston are/we’re, Villa and Leeds must be gutted. Pity one of them at to be at the expense of that s6 shower of shit.

Kevin Gage shot his load at 60 minutes and said we were going to get 4 or 5, then they brought Johnson on and we went to shit for 25 mins.

On a positive note Basham was everywhere for most of the first 60 and thoroughly deserved his goal. Billy did his bit and scored again, exactly what we need from him, Duffy was unplayable at times. Johnson looked ok when he came on for us and had a good hand in the 3rd goal.

Bizarre subs when they were in a period of domination, we needed something to wrestle back the initiative and we just sat deeper.

If we'd have put them to bed in 60 minutes we'd all be banging on about HMS Piss the League setting off again, what we ended up with was a bit of a reality check about what happens when you don't give teams enough respect.

4 points from 2 home games is a decent return all things considered but it's a very tight league and a couple of good or poor results can make a big difference at the moment.

When that player is the most likely one to pop a last minute winner, no it really doesn't.

We got lucky today. We let them back in when it should have been comfortable.
