Score line is a bit harsh, as I've been quite enjoying this so far, and the lack of any commentary whatsoever is a nice bonus from Bet365.

We've played some good stuff. Fleck & Coutts (one dire corner aside) have looked good, as have the wingbacks. It's been quite open. Scougall really should have scored from the Coutts-Freeman link up.

Clarke has been OK with his link-up play. I'm still waiting for Lavery to do something to justify the opinions many seem to have of him. For me he reminds me of Anthony Stokes – the version of him that we saw.

Some decent saves by Ramsdale. Like Long, he seems a bit hesitant on his line, but he's clearly some decent reactions. I think the Brown clearance on the line was fractionally in time.

If feels a bit like men vs boys at the moment.

We've played o but little pace or purpose going forward and every time the ball is in the air near our boy we look second best. Defending manfully but it feels a bit lasp gasp.

Ramsdale seems to lack the height to get crosses.

This game aside, Bolton look a very strong team, even when not playing very well. I hope someone buys Clough in January.

Clarke hasn't done enough for me, either in terms of movement or making something happen.

Not a bad half, but we are struggling to cope with Bolton's set plays.
That's why Wilder needs to have a big centre half lined up incase EEL goes back, we are short in height at the back without him and that's made worse today with Wrights absence

We look nervy at Bolton's set plays due to their superior height advantage & considering this is Bolton's strongest outfit (I think) and what with our 5/6 changes, we aren't doing too badly - scoreline aside.

Scougs should have scored though!

Only watched it from 19 minutes but it seems fairly even to me apart from 2 minutes of desperate defending culminating in Brown's goal line clearance. On the replays it doesn't look like the whole of the ball is over the line.

Bad defending for the goal, 3 players failed to cut out the flick on and that fuckin wanker scores.

Scougs should have scored.

They look a big side, that no.22 Amoebi is huge...... and Scougs seems to be marking him!!

David Wheater - ugly eleven?

The only difference is the firepower, get sharp and/ or done on.
Billy would have scored that scougal chance in my opinion.

Very similar to the pigs ugly eleven when they went up.

I think we're seeing why Bolton will finish above us, providing they don't have to sell key players.

They're strong defensively, don't allow us clear chances, make it count when they're on top and are strong at set pieces.

The game is very much like last time. We look better, but they make it count. I think it'll be a theme for the season.

Great finish for the 2nd, but totally if our own making in cheaply conceding possession.

Pretty sure in years I've been following us I've never seen us not make the third round of the Cup. Looks like that'll change after today.

Atleast we've confirmed Hussey is wank, I wouldn't have bothered with Duffy, no point risking injuries

3-2 FT - Quite glad we didn't get an equaliser, a replay wouldve been a pain in the arse.

Gave a few fringe players a run out at least. Hopefully now injuries

Too much of this Clough style tip-tappy stuff for me - looking at the stats its clear which style of play was going to win today, Blades pleasing on the eye but ineffective

I for one am not happy about losing this game, I want us to win every game we can and losing this could possibly cost us a lot of money, money that CW could've used in January. There are plenty of areas that will need cover from January onwards, let's hope going out won't detriment our chances of improving our squad.

I can't believe people are pleased we got knocked out. I'm gutted.

We would have run them closer if Clarke had actually bothered to try and Lavery did anything other than run down blind alleys.

Sharp and Done next time please.

I thought Hussey was poor and Brown wasn't much better. Clarke for me doesn't seem to move enough off the ball. Lavery did but looked rusty and scared to shoot. As a whole, we are far too reluctant to shoot from any distance, relying on crossing the ball in. Couts and Fleck need to be prepared to take more pot-shots.
