Wilder has transformed us on a budget …. Again.
Wilder has transformed us on a budget …. Again.
We released like 19 players and signed 7 players.Impression I get is that we have transferred the budget from signing fees to wages, making us more attractive to top players.
Agree with large parts of this.Thats a bit misleading.
We've changed our team building strategy.....instead of paying transfer fees.
We've scoured the best loans, the best frees or the best players with 1 year left, so we can get them cheap
and we've offered them massive wages.....blowing our rivals out of the water.
Also we're really lucky because we do have some Academy players who could make the step up.
So it's a case of instead of Norwood 30K a week, we're paying O'Hare £30K a week.
It's a change of tactic and seems to be working because on paper...this team looks better than any recent teams we've had.
I think the reason we failed in the PL is because we couldn't retain possession so the defence was under constant pressure.
The latest fashion in football is based around the "pressing" game.....we simply struggled to perform as a team last season
and that's because we didn't have the foundations of being comfortable on the ball during the previous year.
When our best payer N'diaye left, there were no other team tactics in place, apart from the long ball from Norwood.
If we go up we need a midfield where everyone is comfortable playing one touch football, able to pass to feet when under pressure
Then we get the opposition chasing us and the game then becomes much easier. Hence why I'm so pleased that Hamer, Arblaster, O'Hare and Peck are all being asked to play one-touch possession football, we'll need it if and when we go up.
I must admit I had doubts about Wilder coming back, didn't think he could hack it,he's having a go,good for him.![]()
I think you could argue the new owners are pushing these signings
No doubt in time the truth will out, 1 list, 2 lists, Wilders picks, Taylor’s oversight, just hope it keeps going in a positive direction and doesn’t fall apart in the next 3 weeks or we end up with more deducted points for meddling.I think this is "Wilder" type rebuild imo, he knows what he wants, I honestly think he's driving the recruitment albeit with some help in the background
Are the"new owners" allowed to influence anything until it has been signed over?No doubt in time the truth will out, 1 list, 2 lists, Wilders picks, Taylor’s oversight, just hope it keeps going in a positive direction and doesn’t fall apart in the next 3 weeks or we end up with more deducted points for meddling.
Apparently notAre the"new owners" allowed to influence anything until it has been signed over?
You not leaving at half time then? Without tempting fate lolI'm looking forward to the game on Saturday more than I can remember, after last season we were talking about are we renewing season tickets this season? It wouldn't have taken much for one of us to say ok I'm not bothering for others to say OK I'm not either, really can't wait.UTFB.

Pisses over last seasons team for meI reckon the shout of are we stronger than last season is fair comment, this team narrowly beats last seasons. So much more youthful, pacey and athletic.
Can they even recommend certain players shouldn't be sold,I wonder.I'm sure it's a bit more complicated than this, but from what I gather it's something like the difference between me running into the Prince at Bramall Lane and saying "I reckon you should bid £2m for Cooper from Plymouth" and the Prince sending me to Plymouth to negotiate a price without me being any kind of employee or representative of United. You can have all the talks you want with prospective buyers about what to do with the club, but they can't actually represent you in official dealings.
Warne thought Wilder put his hands on their player. Both seemed to laugh it off post match conferencesWonder if Wilder and Warne have made up? What was all that about!

In fairness he didn't have much else on the bench to bring on but two academy players. We have a quality first team but not a lot in reserve. Thankfully the kids are stepping up. They'll have good games and bad games as they learn. Today was a huge ask of them and they stepped up big time. How many managers would have changed the game by sending on two young academy players. Superb and great coaching too
Smith didn't start for them because their idea was to just sit back and make it hard for us without our own target man, and try and get something on the occasional break.Glad Smith didn’t play from the start. He’s a fkin nuisance
