Are you below gangway B in the South Stand by any chance? Sounds very similar to the bunch of 30 something tossers on the row in front of us.
No I’m on the Kop. The lads in question are polite to be fair , but there match day routine gets on my nerves

Hate it - the old codgers in the South Stand were queuing up to get down the stairs ffs

sat in their seats for a couple of hours and they can't wait another 3 minutes - very strange
I sit on SS and usually no one moves until full time but today not seen anything like it

We left on 18 minutes (25 of us) - was never a red and we were disgusted. We'd had enough by then. I'm surprised we lasted that long tbf - proper big Blades we are.

Seriously? Who gives a flying fuck what time people leave? I bet the players are gutted that fans leave early 🙄

Your time is your own, and none of us get enough, so do with it as you please.

Someone who chose to definitely not leave early, was who ever stayed behind after everyone had left and was singing 'one of our own' while the Birmingham manager post-match interview was going on 🤣 No better way to spend your valuable time

Old codgers eh? ban them from coming to matches obviously - no idea how old you but you comment like a youth with zero social skills, has it never occurred to you that as you get older you get less steady on your feet, your balance isn’t what it used to be, maybe your sight is a problem, perhaps quite sensible to go a bit early? dare say you’ll understand in time.

I am 57 and also an old codger, I am disabled and been on a 12 hour night shift :) UTB .... the support away from home is brilliant - love it ... just disappointed with the atmosphere at the Lane, can't understand it

Always stay to the end but i had a train to catch and walked out on the final whistle. Normally I'd hang around and applaud.
Personal choice really.

When you’ve got a 3+ hour drive ahead of you and the game is won, yes. Those 5 minutes could mean an extra half hour in the car.

Not good enough. You should do what that other bloke wants you to do.

🙄

I couldn't be there today but I did keep checking the score on my phone. As soon as it said injury time - or whatever it's called now - I put the phone away in my pocket. I'm sorry. I feel bad now. I now wish I'd have waited until it said FT and then started clapping, much to the bemusement of everyone else in the restaurant. Next time eh.

Or maybe more sensible to stay til the end and let the crowd clear and then exit safely? Just an idea.

People pay their money and are free to do what they like. However it is the last home game before New Year, it's on a Saturday not a school night for many, I think on this occasion the players deserved a few more fans to stay behind and clap them.

Also for first time ever I have heard fellow fans calling out those leaving early actually at the match. There were a few shouts on the South Stand at those leaving. The sheer amount of people who left when the injury time board went up was quite frankly embarrassing, if anyone didn't know better you would think we were the ones losing 3-0.

I am sure plenty of those who left have their reasons but it wasn't a good look in my view. The players are trying to redeem themselves after a poor start to the season and I think to turn around to see that many fans leaving would be a bit demoralising.

I am not saying the entire home end should stay to the end by the way. I just think today it was obvious it was more than just those fans that needed to catch their train or get back home because they have work.

I suppose I'm an old codger but it depends on your definition. A minute from the end of added time, I went to the top of the stairs from the stand (to the concourse). I left as soon as the final whistle went and as far as I know didn't get in anyone's way. If anything it was other people of a younger age group, dawdling along crab style, getting in the way and delaying me.
I made it to the station at 17.06, well in time for the 17.22, and wished I hadn't bothered to walk so fast. ;)

I know some have said 'this has happened for years'. i believe far more are leaving now when we are winning before the end of the game than their used to be, even since before COVID only 3 minutes added time today- couldnt believe how many heads popped up when this was announced and off they go

Yep last promotion season, fans just fucked off often 10 minutes before the end of the game when we were winning.

Fast forward ⏩ to 2:00 to hear the Blades in full voice. I can't be doing with listening to Blues being blue for 7 minutes😆

it went flat when he took Bamford Hamer Arblaster McCallum off

and didn't bring Campbell on when we are 3 nil up and against 10 men ffs
Excuse me that Cannon cost £10m and needs to score to keep his value up.

Pity that he can't even get it on target from the penalty spot in open play.

This was my point when I wrote the thread

I find all of the fans clapping players clapping fans clapping players stuff a bit uncomfortable most of the time.
It kind of works for me if we've had a battle royale towards the end of the season and got an important last minute equaliser or winner and, of course, an away win at the theatre of rust.
I think doing it after every game, and for a prolonged period where the players look like they can't wait for it to be over is all a bit embarrassing.
It also opens up the opportunity to do the opposite and berate them face to face when things aren't going so well.
Having an opinion is one thing, able to vent our anger by hurling abuse at them face to face doesn't do it for me.

I always stay to give them a clap but crikey those players took ages to start their "walk around" today.
Stop fannying about lads , especially when it's cold.
They should go over to their families last. I get they want to go over there, but the rest of the ground can’t really hang about for 5 minutes plus.

I’ve not been able to go for man flu reasons for the last three home games. I allus stay until the final whistle. The lads deserve the appreciation at the end. I’m bewildered that people want to get into the rush so quickly. Since I have a long drive home I tend to let the traffic settle down before heading back. Otherwise you’re stuck in it for ages. I’d have to leave 10 mins before the end for a quick getaway. Can’t see the bloody point in that.

Wakners (that’s a raul phrase)
