I haven’t read all this thread, but I think Johnson is a more than adequate left sided defensive back up and had a good game today.

Unfortunately, he gets unduly slated by many, most of which is seemingly a result of his one naive decision at Rotherham, that cost us two points.

Well on that basis, we surely need to write off Henderson and O’Connell too

Agree. He lost the ball in their half, something that happens many times in a game. Our midfield / defence contrived to gift them a goal by not doing their job properly. We had plenty of time to make his initial error good.

I thought he did ok today. Gave it his best shot. A couple of decent crosses, a few defensive blocks. Not a familiar position for him but he did his best. All I can ask for from a player.

I don’t blame him for the Rotherham goal either. Subsequent passages of play that could’ve prevented it.

I don’t believe the lad deserves slating, he clearly is trying (maybe too hard) but I don’t think he had a good game yesterday.

He’s decision making further up the pitch was frustrating and sometimes his passing looked like he was making panic passes.

He has got pace, puts some good crosses into the box and gives 100%. Hopefully, CW and AK can work their magic on him because there are elements of a useful player in there.

I still can’t believe the lad is still being blamed for us apparently dropping two points at Rotherham.

We were shit that day and all sorts of things happened after he lost the ball in their half, some people have weird agendas. o_O

Let’s give the lad a fair crack before we hang him out to dry, eh.

And even then, Stevens and Norwood messed up just as badly, if not worse, before Rotherham actually scored.

I think he's an out and out winger, good at taking full backs, getting to the byline and crossing. He's not used to play like we do and looks a little out of position at wing back. Him lacking composure on the ball, similarly to Ryan Leonard, is the main reason he won't be signed permanently. Having said that, I also thought he was fine yesterday.

Still think he needs to play further forward with freedom to play his best but he coped better positionally at LWB than he has before. He just needs to play his game when he gets the chance - that's to be direct and run with the ball.

I'm glad Wilder's not bombed him out on the basis of a few poor 5 minute cameos...
