Gone Elsewhere Martin Waghorn

From someone who has spoken to Tufty tonight;

There is a bid on the table for Waghorn, that bid is the highest it will go. Wilder doesn’t value him any higher. They can take it or leave it. There are also other options that are being looked at. Wilder is hopeful of bringing in a striker before the windows close. He was very coy about mentioning names. Neither of the loan contracts force him to play the loanees and there are NO financial penalties if they don’t play. They earn their place like everyone else. Wilder was happy and relaxed about the season and we’re aiming for top 6 but there’s no problems if we don’t get it. The club is run properly so he can build his squad how he wants it and he won’t have to sell anyone if he doesn’t want to.

“he won’t have to sell anyone if he doesn’t want to”

Can we get that at the top of the page, as a banner or something?

Quote from someone who was there:

"Someone said with loan window being open longer would it be the case that Clubs could loan a player and turn it into a permanent deal in January effectively meaning the window didn’t close next week? Chris believed this to be true."

So I'm not going to worry too much if we don't get a striker by Thursday.

The official account just tweeted this from the fan forum tonight .. doesn’t seem like waghorn is close!

Wouldn’t put it passed wilder to mislead like that and then we announce waghorn bur if it’s true I think it’s a sensible move not to go matching huge offers or getting into a bidding war. He’s a Decent player but I’m not convinced we can’t get better for a similar outlay....
Fukin hell, you look at that picture and think, Uniteds kit looks well, the other teams strip don’t look too bad either.

He was a first choice target so if he's available for loan, and I think he will be as Southampton realise no one will pay £7m, I'd imagine we'll throw our hat into the ring. But, you know..... wages.

If we get Waghorn, we still only have Clarke who can compete in the air. Wilder likes target men. I don't think he'd want to go with only one who resembles that description.

Signing two more strikers would also place Woodburn as purely an attacking midfielder.

Karl Robinson was on Sky Sports last night saying that the premier league teams are very generous and pay "most" of the wage when loaning out as they want them to get game time.

Not sure if that was aimed at L1/L2 clubs going for raw unproven players or what
