Hang on a minute? So we shouldn’t be aiming to just stay up, but we also shouldn’t be aiming higher than that? He’s just contradicted his entire argument the stupid prick.

Mind you, we should come to expect it from Collymore, got form for picking on those weaker than him, the abhorrent little cunt.

Surprised Collymore hasn’t had a go at Berge, he’s known for hammering the Scandinavians.

Fat Bastard Samuel- question for you

What have Burnley, Southampton, Hull City, Swansea, Wigan, Stoke, Fulham and Birmingham City all got in common?

All qualified for the Europa league in the last 10 years.

I made the point in the earlier months of the season - other clubs, pundits, journalists perceptions of us is that we are lower in the pecking order in relation to those teams you mention there.

Even if it was Bournemouth who were in our present position then the shock waves would be far more controlled.

We really have disappeared off the footballing radar in the past 12 years.

It's come as a bit of a shock but I hope we can use their perceptions to our advantage

Martin Samuel is the human equivalent of crumbs in the bed, everything wrong with the English footy press is personified in this nonce!

A coffee, three doughnuts, a packet of biscuits, a Scotch egg, some lard sandwiches, a family bag of crisps, three more doughnuts, a massive chocolate bar and a pack of Fridge Raiders. He held back because it was nearly lunchtime
He’s retaining chips..🍔

However, any league in which Sheffield United are strong Europa League contenders — for all their admirable qualities and the brilliant stewardship of Chris Wilder — is not displaying strength in depth.”

:fattwat:

Arse.
Mans got tigger meat for brains

.....just said on TV he hopes we get 5th place and qualify for the Champions League
But that we won't .
Which again is fair enough .personally think staying up is the biggest achievement of any blades team innmy lifetime ( I'm nearly 50 )
Getting into Europe at all would be on a par with anything either Sheffield team has achieved in my lifetime and champions league would surpass even that
We are in new realms people and I.hope people don't think to finish ( for example ) 8 th and miss out on qualification is a failure

I don't either. I expect Spurs, Wolves and Man Utd to end the season ahead of us. Hope is a different emotion.

Exactly.

You can just see a few seeing it like that.

Disagree.....was always very confident we‘d comfortably stay up....predicted we‘d be just below mid table all season. There were loads of signs last year that we‘d do well eg played all our rivals (Leeds, WBA, Norwich, Villa) away from home and always looking composed without fear either winning or drawing. It was when teams sat back and parked the bus we looked lacking....however I didn’t expect PL teams to park the bus when playing us..so knew that wouldn’t be an issue.

However do agree that getting into Europe at the 1st attempt is up there with the best post war achievements of any Sheffield club
but if we reach the Champions League that outshines any post war achieve by any South Yorkshire club....truly incredible/ unbelievable.

Well my hope of winning the league finally ended with Liverpool's win yesterday, but we can still finish second 😉

Whether or not you were confident doesn't really make it any less of an achievement .in my lifetime only basset has kept us in the top division but wasn't up against the riches of the premierleague and certainly not with the style and innovation of wilders team .

I think, being realistic, that we have profited from the fact that some of the “big six” have been managed by very poor managers for some or all of the season. Wet Sham with Peegrini (and now Moyes!), Spurs with Poch who hadn’t benn able to freshen his squad, Dick Emery at Arsenal, Manure with OGS, Everton with the other foreign chap. All these clubs with fantastic squads on paper but underperforming under shit managers. Probably won’t be repeated next season.

Agree, apart from West Ham being anywhere near top six. I expect improvement from Spurs and Everton, not as convinced about Man U and Arsenal.
